a little discouraged by the moldy pool of greasy crud that's formed in the back of my bandera. Considering breaking out the pressure washer. how do you goons clean your banderas short of starting a massive grease fire in the bottom of your rig?

I cleaned mine for the first time in 2 years.
Kept aluminum foil on the bottom, scraped the crud off the sides.
then cleaned the rest and cleaned up the foil.

I start with a good ole putty knife and just scrape the crap off and wipe it down.
When it gets so bad I just can't stand it, the pressure washer works fine.
Use a low pressure on the inside (don't ask how I learned that)
I keep foil in the bottom and it collects most of the grease drippings during a cook.
My new smoker box is gonna get a drain Mod to let the washing water out better-for sure!
Never thought of a self-impossed grease fire. Let us know if you try that and remember--we love pictures

Go ahead and pressure wash that bitch. Just start a fire in her as soon as you are done and close her up.
Dry her ass off mod.
I pressure wash as much as possible. Damned near between every farking cook. Of course I have a quarter ninch of steel so it don't much matter.

I just wipe the inside of my Bandera down with paper towels to clean up the grease mess every time I use it.

CLEAN IT???
I just wait for the build-up to get big enough and a grease fire takes care of it every few months.

Seriously, I haven't had a huge problem with a buildup, the water pan gets most of the grease, and I burn that out over the firebox when I'm heating up the cooker.

Put it out in the yard and leave the door open. All of the neighborhood cats will have it licked clean in a day or two!

I drilled a quarter inch weep hole in each corner. Hose the beast out once in a while and let it drain, then let it air dry with the door open. Got firebricks on the bottom lined with foil. brisck sit on top of the holes to keep out critters and dont mess up draft.

ok. here's what i did. removed all the grates, drained as much water out of the smoker box and water pan as possible by tilting the unit.
liberally sprayed interior of unit with charcoal lighter fluid, lit on fire. all grease puddled up in the bottom of the unit. the fluid sprayed in the water pan evaporated all the water and rendered all the grease to one side of the tilted pan for easy cleanup.. the thing no longer smells like rancid @$$.
