For those that have been there, how is the power?

Ron_L
06-28-2010, 12:22 PM
We've cooked through some amazing thunderstorms and very high winds and have never had an issue. It's all city power on permanently mounted power poles. There are spots out in the outfield that do not have power, however. That
s where the bigger rigs typically park.

Swamp Boys will be flying/driving in from FL to Detroit then to ??. Scored a cool little gig in Detroit Thursday morning. Got some logistics to figure out

I will be calling in some of those earlier generous offers of equipment loans and help very soon

I'm looking forward to meeting you, Rub!

For those driving in from the west, when we came home from Marshalltown the I-80 bridge over the Mississippi was open (finally!). It was one lane, but we had no traffic or delays. It may be different when the crews are working, but I would think that any construction delays would have to be better than the I-280 bypass!

Bartlett Bonesheads will be there. Hope to arrive thursday night. I need to cook better than I did in Marshalltown.

I've been slacking and didn't get my entry in yet. I e-mailed the organizer to see if there is still space but haven't heard back. Anyone know if there is still room? I need to get my butt kicked again and this seems to be the best place to go.

If you don't need electric and have a generator. You can come out to our little village. I mean, Mile is always looking for field fillers.... ;) let me know of you dont get a hold of Mike or Theresa. I have their contacts.

Really looking forward to getting up there to meet some new Brethren!

Couple of questions...Butt to Butt - anything special or different in this than the regular KCBS category rules?
Sausage - we don't usually have this category, ever. Other than the fact that CSC is the Vegas favorite, is a stuffed fatty legal? I have no idea what is acceptable or what is illegal for this. Are their guidelines anywhere? TIA...

I would call Mike Lake and ask about the rules for the Butt to Butt so you get it straight from him. It is his contest but I believe he follows the KCBS Rules.

Some others should chime in on the sausage but I believe they will let you turn in a fatty. I have in the past and was not DQed.

Sausage. No sausage fettucini, no Sausage biscuits and gravy. Sausage.

Have I posted my picture of my sausage trophy from NY??? I am now the sausage king there as well. I should see if there is a sausage circuit... I know I can't compete in the KCBS company....

Ron_L

Sausage also has to fit into a clamshell, unless they change it for this year

Thanks for all of the help everyone. You guys are amazing. I hope I can return the favor some time :-D.

I think I am down to one item needed to borrow: a hot plate/single burner. Not something most people have 2 of. Worst case I'll stop at a WalMart on the drive in to Shannon and pick one up.

We always have a butane table top burner like this http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/AXXX5LqZSxoTLPredbt29Y93lLg9Xk3B3rKb9i6kD58UphVPPV iBnJZj7Ckt_uhei-CMpLuZ7x3aHVKrsMH3UOgi8aSaOEAxrZlGCzS2PqDSj1pUZhhw OwayeINxIGzG0vvyMD35O7vmCpYyJTBL2Nh3C5drRSx7 in the trailer with us. We use it once in a while for dinner, breakfast or side categories, so odds are that ours will be available.

Butt to Butt is open container, open garnish and everyone uses pork tenderloin. :becky: Follow those rules and you'll do fine.

It's not THAT far from Lockport! You're only 10 or 15 minutes farther than we are. It's sounding and looking like this might be the first DRY Shannon in a while! We're already booked in Michigan (farther still) but if you've never been you should take a ride and check it out! Just bring lunch and a beverage or two, not too much to be found there in the way of stores.
