Reynolds 'HOT BAGS' , large size, extra heavy duty foil bags. 17"X15".

Anyone try these yet? They`re great :D

I don`t know what they cost in the stores. I buy them a the Englishtown, NJ flea market for about $1.25 a box. They come 3 in a box and are too easy to use. I can fit a whole large chicken and a few turkey legs in one bag.

Greedy, we had a discussion about the bags just before the bash. There was some talk they might try some but I never heard them mentioned.

Anyone remember the foil bag thread? I can't find it.

Here's a link to that other thread.

Hi Scott,

I remember that thread. Just did`nt follow it to the end. Yeah, the bags are mentioned but did they try them?

They are very heavy duty to the point they won`t tear easily. And the thing I like about them is they seal perfectly. Air tight.

I have a half dozen styrofoam coolers I saved from my yearly scallop delivery from Maine (presents from my accountant). Now I foil bag my Q and place them in the coolers for a few hours after Q`ing. Works great.

Only thing I can say bad about them is, it`s true they must be expensive. Relativly speaking. At a buck and a ¼ for three bags though, they can`t be beat.

A 500 foot roll of H/D 18" wide foil will make 200 of those bags for $22, a quarter of the cost of the foil
bags at 3 for $1.25.

since when has saving money been an issue!! :D

I use the "plastic" oven bags when I want to save the juice -- we make sauce from the brisket juice and the oven bags absolutely can't be beat . The bags are rated for over 350 degrees so they work great towards the end of a cook. I use the foil bags occassionally but don't like them as well as the "plastic".

But, I too fall back on the roll of foil most of the time. and foil is used for ribs, butt, etc.

To keep the aliens out of your butt?

Different thread mod.

At B3, we used that Costco roll of HD foil... to wrap everything... even considered wrapping TK up while he napped with the duck......

someone asked if we had stock in alcoa or reynolds.

I guess next time I want to save a 1 or 2 bucks when I cook I`ll reach for the 40lbs roll of foil. Won`t seal as nice, but I`ll have enough for some dessert!

Exactly! Use the bags if you're comfortable with 'em. The price for most of us is negligible and they are super convernient.

If you cook bulk then use the 18" industrial strenth foil -- I used my fair share yesterday cooking teriyaki chicken, egg rolls, etc. for 125.

I use the bags for veggies on the grill.
Good stuff!!! mix bell peppers, onions, squash
etc with garlic salt, water and a splash of vinegar.
Cook till veggies are tender. Good with Q
