And how does moe get away with competing under 2 names?
By the way...I sent my money in sunday.

Good catch Mike. That's the list Bob gave me. I will let him know. I am just using same list as last year. Not sure how many they are taking.

As you can tell from the list, we'll be there. We'll have coffee on Saturday morning.

Assuming that I have time to roast during the week, I should also have bags of coffee for sale.

Moe entered the contest early and ten Mike From HAwgeyes sponsored him later so it got added again. We did this same thing two years ago. Back then Lou said he did not want to do any refunds until it was all over so we waited, with our name on the list twice.
Hope you get in. I sent mine in on tuesday, what was I thinking!

See everyone there and will be looking forward to a cup of coffee Ron.

While I'll agree we've been fortunate (of late) at some events with nice payouts - that doesn't mean we're not trying just as hard to be fortunate in Marshalltown, Mason City, Pleasant Lee ... well you get the picture.

Looking forward to seeing everyone up there. Any news on the grounds this year? If M'Town has been receiving as much rain as I have in KC, it's probably a little wet.

If the setup is the same as last year I think the longest walk was less than 5 minutes. The campground has a large circular road going around it and most teams were setup on both sides of that road and the turn ins were in a building off of one side of the circle. Some teams were set up on a spur road off of the circle and they may had had the longest walk.

Access to electricity and water was convenient for everyone I believe.

KC_Bobby
06-17-2010, 12:26 PM
Parsley anyone?

I'll go get a case from RD Thursday after work as it's on my direct route from work to Iowa. First 3 teams to PM me with their cell phone number can get in on it. No cell #, no parsley. Chances are I have it already anyway. Heard it went up to $22 a case plus tax, so it will be about $6 each.

Now RD has been rumored to have some less than perfect parsley this year - not sure why and I haven't personally seen it. Thus only 4 buyers instead of 5 per case. If that's the case come Thursday night I will text the other buyers by 7 pm Thursday night so they have time to make other garnish arrangements.

KC_Bobby
06-17-2010, 02:01 PM
The following teams are in on a case of parsley:

Smokehouse -27
Holy Moses
Buster Barker

If others want to go in on a case, I'd be happy to pick up another case since I'm getting one anyway (assuming it's good and in stock). I'll have cooler space.

I talked to Bob this morning, and he didn't seem too concerned about the rising river. Said they had a good sized dike at the park. He sounded optimistic that everything would be okay. He's going to do a walk through Thursday and see if any teams need to be moved. Some sites have had standing water for some time, so there will be some rearranging, but I don't know to what extent. I'm hoping it turns out okay, but I bought some boots today in case it is a swamp.

This is our first time at Marshalltown. If it's like our other comps, I'll get to meet some new town drunks on my a.m. cooking shift!

You the younster with the pretty wife (Swifts) that sat next to me at judges table in State Center?
If so you already met me and I'm a traveling drunk, thank you very much...
See you Fri. night.

Dropped my trailer off. Park is pretty nice. Some areas of standing water mostly along the inner road. Far enough away from actual setup areas. Lots of dirt areas so bring a rug if it rains. New this year were some spigots at the site.

Hey Nate. The big dike said to tell you hello and she'll look you up at the reunion.

Forgot to mention. You guys might want bug spray. They were a little thick Thursday night in some areas.
