Remember the Weber Magnum? The super-sized WSM based on a 22" kettle.

Here's a couple being used at the Minnesota State BBQ competition.

I wonder how they work? Are those barrels sitting on top of a kettle?

Looks like it.

Check out Pic 1 and it shows a kettle off to the side.

Looks pretty similar.

Maybe not though

Yep. Gasketed door, 3 cooking grates, etc.

Seem to work ok - I've got other pics of some ribs being cooked in it and that was definately overkill!

Looks like a kettle with legs welded on, with a 55 gal. barrel setting on it.
Large capacity cook mod.........

Notice in the first picture on the rear cooker how the extension is clamped to the kettle base.

The make the top heavy SOB stay together mod.

I did something similar with a barrell I got from Dave. Here's a pic:

Yes - a Weber 22" kettle, a 55 gal drum, and other accessories are used to make this. The 22" kettle fits the diameter of a 55 gal drum almost perfectly.
