Saw this yesterday and meant to post. I just returned from Home Depot with 192# of Kingsford. 24# twinpacks are $7.99 for 3 days only - through tomorrow. I assume it's nationwide. Check it out.

Personally, I only use a little lump to get the fire going and all wood. Don't like the smell of briquettes compared to regular charcoal. Unfortunately, our home depot doesn't stock any lump. Have to go to Lowes and pick up "Cowboys" lump.

Pi$$ off the environmentalists and ozone action committees? Bet you don't get a second delivery of Spiced Tofu Loaf after the Welcome Wagon has left.

I bought a couple of 7lb bags of "Best of the West" lump mesquite for $3 a piece. Then I went to another store and saw them 2/$5. Guess I better stock up!

Yep, you got it. Charcoal originated in the southern part of Illinois.

I did.
Charcoal was a by product invented by Henry Ford in Michigan. Sorry.
Unless somehow Michigan was annexed by Illinois...

Thought I'd ressurect rather than start another thread
Check your local Home Depot, especially you northern folks.
It appears a logistic fark up occured at HD recently. I went to my local Depot before TDay for some oil, and was gonna pick up charcoal. Nothing, not a thing. Snow blowers moving in, 3 grills left on close out.
Asked the manager (aka Snow Blower Assembly Guy) if they were getting more Kingsford. "Nope, thats it for the season" No hickory chunks either (Menards was still loaded with Cowboy lump and bags of chunks)
Wife came from HD this week, "I got two twin packs of Kingsford in the van for you"
WTF? I took today off, and went to HD. Tuesday there was one pallet. Today, there was two. I picked up 6 more. I asked the manager (aka, Light Bulb Unpacking Guy) what was up with the Kingsford (retelling Snow Thrower Guy story to him).
He said the shippers farked up a three week order. Some upper Midwest and East ended up with stuff that shoulda went South. So the light goods (charcoal, electrical, etc) stuff came off the trucks, and the lawn care, outdoor furniture etc all went back. Everything went on immediate close out.
So the 2 packs of charcoal are only $7.98.
I asked if he had any WSM's I could take off his hands at $125 each, but I was SOL
So check your local HD's for a possible bargain

I already am management 8)
Nope, 32 days to take, can only carry over 5, and I had 6.
Last night, company Xmas party. Double Jack and Gingers. Take today off.
Char, the "Light Guy" was only talking about HDepot logistics, not specific to Kingsford (ie., won't affect Lowes).
But I got a $3,300 Lowes story that doesnt belong in this forum as to why I'll never set foot in that farking store again
