My significanly better half and center of my universe (wife and daughter) were in TN last week at college orientation. While there they went by the Lodge Outlet and bought me a cast iron dutch oven. Hope to try it out with something in it this weekend.
Happy Dad's Day to All!!

I do some dutch oven cooking... what size did you get?
Don't forget to season it really well. The Lodge instructions should tell you how. The more you do it the better it gets. And save the little cardboard thingy that it sits on in the box. Works really well when packing it to go somewhere. I've got a 12" & a 10". I store/pack them in a Rubbermaid tub and just stack them in it with the cardboard thing between them.

Love my dutch ovens! Did you get one of the new Lodge pre-seasoned ones? Been wondering how well they are seasoned.

Mine is a ten inch preseasoned model. I ordered a book from Cabellas on learning how to cook in a dutch oven as well as some recipes. I'll let you know what I dcide to cook and how it turns out.
