I received a request for a booking for July 2nd 2011! 130+ people with a check for 250.00 deposit. I am a little suspicious and not cashing the check just quite yet. Although flattered just suspicious and consulting my attorney. What is the longest time out requested for a booking?

This might seem like a stupid question, but did you verify that date? Possibly a typo or some damn fine planning.

I cant book something for next week, let alone a year from now

Yes I did verify the date and it is for a Bar Mitzvah. It was a referral from something I did last month. I don't mind but is really taking me back a little....

6 to 8 mos is the max for us. I am just a little concerned about quoting pricing out a year in advance, but may not be an issue for some. But if someone wants you, they want you!

I've booked weddings a year in advance. Add a few points to your price, cash the 50% deposit check (which is non-refundable) and move along.

That's normal for important events. I typically state prices are subject to change or quote with price inflated pricing. I normally require at least a 25% booking fee, 50% if a lot of rentals and other sub-contractors are involved. For date way in advance like this I accept upon request a $250 booking fee with the balnce of the 25% booking fee required January 1, 2011. Good luck!

I have never planned any events in my life a year ahead of time----but some people do. I have been booked for a wedding in March of 2011. I have ben booked a year ahead of time before---when planning that far ahead I warn the customer that meat prices may increase.
