Saw some interesting and weird stuff on FoodTV:

Klose gets free commercial

Some restaurant guy essentially grills ribs(1.5hours) and with sugar based sauce; and comes out with a product that seems to sell very well

Although several shows got it right there were a bunch clueless about the difference between grilliing and Q.

Since the judges "travel" the cooking circuit, seems like there is the potential for more politics than tasting going into the judging.

What does everyone think about the guy who uses gas and wood pellets???

How about the ex White House reporter who management to raise 330000 from friends and family and then almost went bust??

Bobby Flay is a total A-hole but somes times he comes up with some great recipes.

I had never heard of most of the restaurants featured - from here and from personal experience.

And I still don't know how people grill cuts that have fat on them or in them and never have smoke or flair ups - and this includes indoor kitchen grills or grill pans.

Those of you who mop should have liked to tea kettle smoker from - I can't remember - some seasoning company.

I watched a bunch of those shows also. All those hours of watching (vegitating) in front of the tube and there was not one recipe discussed in anything other than "some of this and a little of that". They sure don't give any "secrets" away. My favorite show was the one hosted by the peach from Georgia. I found all of the shows entertaining.

I liked the $8K gas and wood Q. I couldn't afford it.... I wonder if it could be converted to burn wood and charcoal?

I think that the tea kettle Q was owned by McCormick.

I would love to be one of those BBQ "judges", traveling the circuit, eating great food, and the shmoozing. What it must do for the ego (and the waistline too)!

Let me make a correction to the above. Where I said, "I liked the $8K gas and wood Q." I meant to say, I liked the $8K gas and preformed/pressed wood Q. I still wonder if it could be converted to wood and charcoal.
