We have a few friends that are going to hanging around all weekend for the GAB. And they are interested in entering the sides and deserts contest. We have never entered any of them. What days are they on?? How are things turned in ?? Same rules apply .. to be cooked on site, no gas ???

Side Dish Contest Judging – Judging Tent
10:00am Vegetables Category Judging – Side Dish
10:30am Beans Category Judging – Side Dish
11:00am Potatoes Category Judging – Side Dish
Open Contest Judging – Judging Tent
12:00pm Chicken Category Judging – Open
12:30pm Rib Category Judging – Open
1:00pm Pork Category Judging – Open
1:30pm Brisket Category Judging – Open
2:00pm Dessert Contest Judging - Open
5:00pm Awards Ceremony –Side Dish Contest, Dessert Contest and the 6th Annual
Great American Barbecue Open Contest at the Main Stage

Side Dish Contest Rules
1. Side Dish Categories: Baked Beans, Potatoes
and Vegetables.
2. Team must be entered in the open contest to
enter the Side Dish Contest.
3. Entries must be prepared on site and in your
team space.
4. Side Dish entries will contain no more than
7.5% meat or fish products.
5. Combined total of scores from each category
will determine overall side dish grand
6. One entry per team per category.
7. Entry can be six separate portions or one
large portion for submission to judges.
8. Entry must be in a Styrofoam container
provided by GAB.
9. Garnish as your wish – the garnish rule is
waived in this category.

Krispy Kreme Dessert Contest Rules
1. Desserts must be prepared on site in your
team space and not be store bought.
2. Team must be entered in the open contest to
enter the Krispy Kreme Dessert Contest.
3. Desserts do not need to contain Krispy Kreme
donuts. Krispy Kreme is a sponsor of this
4. Use any heat source to prepare dessert entry.
5. One entry per team per category.
6. Entry can be eight separate portions or one
large portion for submission to judges.
7. Garnish rules are waived.
8. Desserts are not required to be presented in
the provided Styrofoam containers. You must
affix the numbered label on your container to
the bottom of your entry.
9. If you present your dessert in a different
container the GAB is not responsible for
returning that container or decorations.

Doug, I believe you can use gas or electricity to cook the side and dessert categories.

Anyone willing to share a couple photos of entries? (I wont distribute)
I assume a bread bowl for the beans? Or could you use a small dish or cups????
