Yes, the Doghouse Willie team members are getting pretty jazzed too. This will be our first comp of the year. Checked the website yesterday--59 KCBS teams, twenty- or thirty-something NEBS teams (forgot the number), and a freakin' amazing 79 teams for the rib cookoff!

Don't forget that NY rules say that you must use wood within 30 miles of the competition or you must use heat treated. Humphrey's chips and chunks is at your rescue. All of our chunks, chips, logs, and planks are heat treated to meet all specifications. We are also offering our all natural charcoal and lump at discounted rates for this competition. I'm in! I'm hoping ot have time to build another mini but it looks like I wont have time. I've gotta have my trailer finished and on display that weekend at another event.

applied to judge it yesterday......just another reason to hang with friends, without the stress of cooking.....that is getting back in full force soon enough.....plus, unlike Kansas, I left the rig and gear (and yes, the Geer too) back in Ohio.....but, looking forward to seeing everyone....

would have it no other way......only a 6.5 hour drive for me.....but, since I cannot cook it, I wont miss hanging with friends......in the appropriate hours of contact of course....:thumb:

We just decided today that we are going to make the flight up from Florida and give this competition a shot. Our entry form should be going in today.

We have the equipment driving in from Cleveland and are only going with a 2 man team and not the usual 6 man team. We are looking forward to the lack of 90% humidity that we get at competitions down here that time of year.

Excited about meeting some of the northern brethren!

No. The best you will do is Angus and that will even be tough to find. Wegmans doesn't carry whole packers and Palmers tends to have a weak selection. That leaves theWal-Mart, BJs and Sams on Memorial Day weekend with 70 KCBS teams in town. I went very local and have two Angus packers being dry aged by my butcher.
