Doing the 2 yr olds birthday Q today & tomorrow. Started the fire at 6:30 and loaded 32# of pork butts (4) at 7:00. Had new Taylor probe thermo stuck thru a tater on the bottom rack and used the door thermo at the other rack. (2nd probe thinks its 350* in the freezer :( - its going back). Difference between the 2 shelves was 12*. Kept the bottom one between 210 & 221 all day. Used total 2 chimneys Kingsford for coal bed and then red oak and some of the sugar maple Kick gave me. They hit 160* at 2:30 so now they're wrapped and I'm waiting for 200* to throw 'em in the cooler. Nice tidbit left on a rack when I pulled it off. Mmmmmm.....pork.

Tomorrow it's a couple BBCs and a fatty. Did I mention the fatty from this morning? Early lunch on that one. 2 year old ate 3 slices.

Damn! I'm hungry. When should I be over?

I can't wait for daddy's day. OL let me know that I can have the whole day to Cue. No diaper changing, even. :D I'm going to do two butts, polish sausage, home-made sausage, spare ribs, steaks, chops and anything else that gets close enough to me!

My kid's b-days are both in February. Mine is in January, OL's in October, but she's not as into Q as I am - not yet, anyway

Sounds like it's going great for you. Two year old ate fatty, huh? I'll definately have to try one for my little ones, too.

Party starts at 3 tomorrow. If you leave now...

Ralph loves everything that comes out of the smoker. And this is the best I've done on fire management so I'm looking forward to the taste test tonight! Got the cooler ready - probe shows 193* so probably 'nother 30 minutes.

don't that sugar maple smell good when it's a smokin'?

Happy Birthday to Ralph, wish I could be there....I get to work.
Be safe...,.I should have taken my own advise on that last Tuesday.
I'll post in another thread sometime when the concussion is better.

I'm LMAO on this post. This sounds just like me.

2 full days of smoking and cooking for a 2 year olds berfday.

They're done after 5 bites. But that didnt stop you from 32# of butts (I know your talking guests, and not 2 yr old guests.) But then a second day of Bcc's and fattys, thats just glutenous

Best damn BBC's ever. Kept 'em at 215* and took 'em off after 4 1/2 hours.

Yeah, the boy was just interested in the cake and all the other kids. The adults enjoyed the food!

Mmmmm....gluttony.

With the red oak, could you see any difference with the sugar maple added?

Happy belated to little Ralphie.

I am using this post to show the OL that I am not the only one that believes that its ok to serve BBQ at the youngins Birthday party.

Thanks JT.

No problem, Mook. Glad to assist. :D

Kick, I know the pulled pork was better than last time but other factors were in there too, such as spraying with apple juice, better fire management, etc. It sure smelled good all day!
