Olive, the only real differences I can tell is the fire box doesn't have the adjustable hangers that the original does, the included rib rack is different, and the water pan is on a slide in support instead of hangers. Oh and the brinkmann comes with more hooks and rods and stuff, of which I have only used the hanging rods to support extra shelves that aren't wide enough to work on the existing supports.

Nice to have you join us, stop in at cattle call and introduce yourself. Lot's of fun and even a little info to be had here. Do you like peanuts?

Warning Olive

"Do you like peanuts?" is a loaded  question.

i went to check it out and of course they said only special order...$229.00
ill gladly pay it but I know that the small brinkmann square smoker is
really thin. I would really like to see it before i order it. I really like this type of smoker but I think I will end up with a wsm.

If you'd like I'll look around Clearwater -- the WalMart on near 19/Coachman usually have Banderas and I've seen them in Largo at the WalMart - I drive by both prettyoften.

Let me know. What part of S. FL?

Olive, My brinkmann is 13ga or .090" or 3/32" material. I finally saw a char-broil in the store last week. Same cooker only backwards  as best I could tell, didn't have tape measure in my pocket (rare, very rare). I think older US made New Braunfels were a bit thicker. For the capacity either the Bandera or the queer Brinkmann offer good bang for the buck. If you don't need the capacity and want something that requires less attention WSM is probably a better fit.

Olive,
I've seen both the small square smoker and the Brinkmann Bandera on display. The square one has a different, thinner, cheaper feel to it. I would bet that the "queer-dera" is the same thickness as the newer, Char-Broil Bandera. I can't' speak as to the older NB Bandera.

My first choice would have been a NB Dera, followed byt the Brinkmann Dera. I could not find either in my town, so instead I got a Brinkman Cimarron horizontal. I personally think you won't go wrong with the "queer-dera". :)
