I needed the rack I'd wrapped in foil for my heat sheild, so what do you know. Into the bandera goes one of my wifes cookie sheets. Sitting on top of the rib racks, it's almost as deep as the smokebox, but it leaves me with about an inch gap over on the side away from the firebox.
I did remember to buy the replacement for her before swiping the old aluminum sheet.

thats eggzactly what i used when my prefab one got wrecked. had to bend about an inch of it up to fit the box, but it works great.

Only thing I don't like about it, is that I've got it sitting on top of the bandera's rib racks, so I loose about 8" at the top that I cant use. I'm gonna have to figure a better way to hold the thing up at the level I want it.

Use your hanging rods if your model has them.

How about drilling 4 holes in the cookie sheet, 2 on each side and use a coat hanger to make S hooks that fit into the rack holder holes?

That would work, and not take up any more than 1 rack space, which using any of the other hooks would do.

When I said use the hanging rods what I meant was install one each front and rear and set your shield on them. I have mine this way except instead of sheetmetal I have my factory charcoal grate with some of my leftover tiles in place on the top set of supports.
