A post in the sauce thread made me think about posting a hot sauce shop thread. I have a favorite store here in St. Charles, MO called Figuero's. I'll post some pics....

Don't need it. This stuff is SO hot it'll burn your sphincter clean out... If you get yer hand to close to yer butt it'll probably spontaneously combust :D

Central Market is the best I've seen, besides the place in Grapevine Mills that has all of the Texas stuff.

That place looks pretty cool Shock
I could spend a good couple days milling around that place.
I need to ask. What are the tables for? Taste testing?

You know he just remodeled the place. He basically doubled the size of of spice shop. The front is gourmet coffee...
My guess is that he puts sample out on the weekends. There is another cool shop in Alton, IL called Chili Heads. Everytime you go in there, they have a bunch of samples on a table right in the front door...
The Chili Heads guy has a smoker and likes to fire it up on the weekends on the sidewalk in front of his shop. He'll sit out there smoking or BBQ'ing drinking beer! He cooks just to give it away!!

7.1 million scoville units.... The hottest is 16 million but I didn't see it out. A habenaro pepper is only around 300,000 scoville.

That's probably because its a controlled susbtance. I figure if you eat any of it, you'd be able to touch your brain any time you pick you nose.

Anyone know the names of the sweet hot stuff?
Phil gave me Pepperheads, and it was really good.
I am wondering if I could find any apricot based hot sauces.

More hot sauce shops.....
In Spring Texas, there's Dave's Pepper Palace. A very nice place. Dave passed away in December, but I
believe his family is keeping the shop going. Dave made some of his own sauces and rated all the sauces
available in his store on a 1 - 10 scale. You can sample the sauces, but 9's and above are behind the counter
and you have to ask for them (safety reasons I think). My favorite sauce name there is "Smack My A$$
And Call Me Sally.
There's a Tear's of Joy shop in Austin. Here's the web url.

ChiBill - one of the habanero jelly recipe links awhile back used a fair share of apricot (juice, nectar, or the real thing I don't remember)

Yeah, the site background is pretty obnoxiuos.... I also think that article is old. His official site is http://www.figueros.com/HotHotHot/
At Figuero's we feature a staggering array of over 1600 hots sauces, salsas, dips, mustards, barbecue sauces, jerk sauces and rubs from all across the country.

What was the price of "The Source" ? I got to have one of those for my collection.
Retail is $100 I think. Not worth it at a tenth of that.

Great post Mark. I'm dying.
Read this review fellas:

I personally think Tabasco is hot, I never was much for hot foods but my friend Bill and I made a bet that I wouldn't be able to hold a **** for 60 minutes after taking 20 Super Lax's from http://www.grandmas-herbs.com/remedies/ProductDetails.cfm?Product=40 I ended up ****ting myself within 30 minutes. If I was able to hold it for 60 minutes, Bill would have had to give me 60 bucks but since I lost, I had to take 1 tsp of Source. Since I already had a problem with my ass, the only thing that was coming out was blood and tissue. I ended up getting a reverse-douche from the emergency room. I know it was a stupid bet to make but I never expected this to be so hot, he said it was alot hotter then Tabasco but I never had anything hotter then Tabasco. For those of you that are using this stuff for pranks on people, you better think twice, you can get really messed up from this stuff. The worse thing was that my insurance still hasn't covered the bill from the hospital. - Dave
Taste Opinion: Awful!; Heat Opinion: TOO HOT!

Me and my sister love hot sauces. Was at her house one day and we made some seafood gumbo. I put about two drops of Daves Insanity sauce in mine and Sis's, and her boyfriend put about a tablespoon in his. I told him it was hot, but being macho and not wanting Sis to outdo him he started eating. He got maybe half of it down and excused himself for the rest of the night. His house and he spent the rest of the night in the bathroom. Me and Sis laughed our butts off all night.

A tablespoon? That was creul! One or two drops is plenty, really. If you have not tried this stuff yet, it is SERIOUS hot. I only use it to prove a point to macho hot braggers.
