Jacked UP BBQ
02-17-2010, 10:02 PM
We are no longer competing under the Ocean County Pig Assassins. We will now be competing under Jacked Up BBQ. We will always remember our original name and keep it alive, but for vending reasons we have decided to go with one name. So if you see Jacked Up BBQ on the comp list that is us! We will be notifying all of the organizers and organizations that we already signed up for under the old name. See you on the circuit!

Not only that, but it would be a much shorter banner.

Thats always been their vending name. Makes sense to compete under that name too so when they walk away with all the trophies again this year, prospective customers associate the vendor with the winner.

matt, you want to change your handle here too? It changes just the name, all stats remain.

The Jack will still recognize you as your old name. Twyford BBQ had to compete under his old banner of Ulcer Acres, as that was the name when he won the qualifying contest...

Good choice, Matt.

I was updating the team name listings this morning so I added Jacked Up BBQ to the list. I also left the old name in there with a note that you are now Jacked Up BBQ.

Best wishes on the new name and ventures. Understand the need for change, but still love OCPA.

Ocean County has fond memories for me, Tradewinds Club, Murphy's Law, Tsunami's, Ft. Monmouth, and crashing the leave piles on the side of the road, in the fall.

It makes a diff with NEBS ToY too... since NEBS season runs from the day after the Harpoon Grilling on Sunday until the next year's Harpoon Grilling, not the calendar year.

I'll find out about that asap for ya Matt...

Maybe......jus' a few times.

I used to bounce at the Tradewinds Club, was fun! The police would park across the street from us, and when I left the door, they knew someone was getting "escorted" out. They would pull up, just as I threw them out over the stairs and would land right in front of them. One jerk actually tried to get them to arrest me, for assault.

Murphy's Law was my place of choice. One day I got a call from my team leader, telling me he was at the club with some new friends, then the lead singer from Gorky Park got on the phone and in broken English, and alot of Russian, told me to get my a$$ down there pronto, they were doing a no notice concert that night.

Funny thing, don't remember the concert very much, I dunno why..............

No, tough ****, you have to stick with the name that the drunken debauchery gave you......it is not like me where I switch from Them Ohio City Boys to 2 Worthless Nuts, it is totally different, and more humiliating...... I refuse to ever acknowledge to address you as anything else but OCPA.....sorry, not gonna happen.......well, every once in a while I will talk to you as Matt.....

ok... officially from the NEBS ToY rules...
I highlighted the specific rule in red.

NEBS Team of the Year

Must be a NEBS member in good standing.

The year runs from the day after Harpoon to the Sunday grilling contest at Harpoon.
The teams 5 top scores will count for TOY. Grilling (NEBS sanctioned) or BBQ doesn't matter.
The team must compete under the same name in each contest.
Only 4 predetermined categories will count for the overall TOY score in a contest.
Eligible contests will be listed on the NEBS schedule of events.
Toy Trophies will be awarded for Chicken, Ribs, Pork, Brisket and Overall
Rookie ToY

Must be a NEBS member in good standing.
The Year runs from the day after Harpoon to the Sunday Grilling contest at Harpoon
The teams 3 top scores will count for Rookie TOY. Grilling (NEBS sanctioned) or BBQ doesn't matter.
Only 4 predetermined categories will count for the overall TOY Score in a contest.
The team must compete under the same name in each contest.
Eligible contests will be listed on the NEBS schedule of events
A Rookie team member cannot have been a pit master on any other team that has competed on any BBQ circuit.
A Rookie Team could not have cooked in more than two events the previous year.
A Rookie Toy trophy for Overall will be awarded.

so... the points you accrued as OCPA, from the day after Harpoon 2009 until you changed your name, will not count towards, or be added to, the scores you get as Jacked Up.
Sorry Matt.
But, if it makes you feel any better, you are not the only one with a name change.

oh... and points start to ad up when you become a NEBS member, not retro.

I'm changing the name of my team to "Condemned by the Health Department" which also coincides with my vending name.

Thanks Michelle, oh well, I don't think I have many nebs points anyway??? I will try and kick it into gear towards the end of your season. I count calendar years in my head, never thought about sanctioning bodies season!

Did you change your name on your account or start a new one? I would like to change mine due to starting a business now I don't want people to google me and this forum come up.
