Could someone who has actually tried this recipe tell me if the stuff is any good or is this the kind of deal where I post up monday and say it sucked I'm gonna get a couple dozen replies about of course it sucked you boiled wood chips in the sauce you farkin' idiot. It sounds strange enough to be good, it also sounds stupid enough to be a joke too. Can I get some 4 real 411?

Dont see why it would hurt..... boil a ginger root for ginger tea right??

Well, one way to figure it out would be to boils some chips in water, then taste the water.. make a cup O'hickory tea. if it taste like something you'd add to Q sauce, it may be good. Also may make a great laxative. :)

IMO though, When i make sauce, I just add the pot uncovered in my smoker it the coolest part of the chamber and let it sit in there while i cook stuff, stirring often. It picks up real smoke that way.

When I make sauce while making a brisket, I add some of the juices from the cooler to the sauce - adds a bit of depth and smoke to the flavor of the bbq sauce.

Also, if the sauce you're making includes onions and other veggies, you can smoke those for 15min or so before chopping and adding to the sauce.
