HEB (Texas grocery chain) has been advertising pork brisket for under $1 now and then lately. I've never tried one. I've thought about just buying some to use to test some new rubs and marinades to see how they work with pork on the cheap. Anybody have any experience with them?

I did a google search of "pork brisket" and could only find this result. The original link was dead, but this is google's "cached" version:

i've seen them... and tried them from HEB. they're just the very bottom (or top) of the spare rib. they're okay...just a little too greasy. other than that, they're just like eating or preparing spares.

isnt that the piece ya cut off the top of spares to make St Louies?? I've seen them in the butcher shop.. good for pork & beans and stuff like that.. flavoring chile, stews.. etc....

Gracias. I think I'll give it a try the next time they are on sale. Sounds like it might not be bad in sausage. I guess I could have done the google search myself , but I'm starting to believe that there is at least as much knowledge and info here. Thanks again!

Your right Jorge.
And just like a Google search, you get a couple thousand hits of useless, but funny, info too :)

gotta watch out though.. The on etime i got it it had some gristle or cartlidge.. something hard buried in it at the very edge. So if ya making sausage, check to make sure its cleaned out.

best search engine of them all:

use to use that one for college research. Its set up on some university server that made up the original internet (pre-www interface)
Very fast, without those annoying sponsor links and crap
