Put Tabasco on it! :D
Always carried a bunch of different stuff in addition to tabasco.
Garlic powder, salt, pepper, cumin, oregano, dried cilantro, cayenne. Of course nothing could make the ham slice MRE edible.
Of course nothing could make the ham slice MRE edible.
How true!
Once during an exercise "they" had us on "combat rats". MRE's at our positions - well the fruit in the particular batch of MREs had been condemned -- not the whole MRE but just the fruit. Sooooo, we got the MRE pack cut opened and the fruit removed -- then they were serving fruit cocktail serparately - I'm not totally convinced that it wasn't the condemned fruit! Go figure!! :D
Of course we were in the SCIF - air conditioned, etc. so we really were roughing it to have to eat MREs while wearing full MOP gear - inside, trying to type on the terminals with a pencil.
Ahhh, those were the days!!

I'll have to PM you a SCIF story since it doesn't belong here, and Wood Pile would be borderline.
Wood Pile would be borderline.
Hmm. Now you have me intrigued :D I spent 10 of 20 years overseas and in the SCIFs -- and the other 10 stateside in NSA or a SCIF somewhere in Texas :D
