Hi Brethren's,
My name is Carl and I go by MoMax since I'm also a professional photographer.... why MoMax... we have two Boston Terriers... one Mo and the other Max.
But the reason I'm introducing myself is because I wanna become a better smoker and learn to feed my family and friends with better smoked foods. I"m originally from Texas and came to Mass about 22 years ago for a one year contract... yeah... believe me... I"ve asked my self the same question... why the heck did I stay up here....wife and kids...
So here I am stuck in New England... and a friend of mine invited me to a BBQ comp last summer... I thought to myself... these boys up here can't BBQ.... well... they proved me wrong and I"m sure its with the help of these types of forums and plenty of trial and error. Which brings me to a forum like this... I want to improve... and also share any mishaps or share pitfalls that I've learned myself that others can benefit from.
I did some research shortly after my friends BBQ comp and what caught my eye at this cookoff was a Backwoods smoker.... they're pricey... but well worth every cent I've spent SO far. Bought it from a Backwoods dealer in these parts named SeaBrisket. Heck of a nice guy and if your ever in the need of a smoker in the New England area... he's a stand up guy and gave me plenty of tips and a couple secret recipes... shssss...
Well... enough ramblin... I gotta go and check on the 40 thighs I've got going....:biggrin::biggrin:
Take care and hope to converse with many of you,
Carl
