I'm telling you Bill, we can make them out of stainless so that they slide right into a bandera rack

i also saw a cheap chile grill at academy sports and outdoors (in texas and southwest). about $15. held about 12-15 chilis. no handles - would easily fit into a bandera. all stainless. nice. i already have a carbon steel chili grill shaped like great state of texas.

I thought about getting the regular size Spoon, but with my big ass mouth, one of these dys I gotta host some of these brothers over, so I was thinking quantity.

Hell, they got a round one there for the Weber that holds like 3 dozen or something.

Vice, gentle application of force on the handles. That should be enough to save 2". And I thought you watched American Chopper.......

I don't do turds, but I do have an idea, the steel place I go to has some large opening expanded metal which could be cut to fit the smoke chamber shelf brackets. So what size hole do you brothers need for ur turds? This will be a diamond shape hole rather than round. No farking jokes brd, please!

Square might be a good idea. allows smoke to pass through better. I had been thinking smaller holes staggered between the others for that.

Not to mention it could also be used for larger peppers such as stuffed poblanos and banana peppers.

Another idea would be to get a thick aluminum sheet; maybe a commercial cookie sheet. Then use the gizmo that race car builders use to punch holes for instrument panels.

BTW: stuffed baby poblano's kick ass! If you promise to keep them alive, I'll give you some plants Bill (via Greg).

I would love to try to keep them alive. From previous posts, I know the seedling portion requires quite a bit of care. That I would fark up. But I grow stuff in the summer with the kids.

Last year, I planted a small potato that had "eyes" starting on it. Put it on a big ass patio pot. Told my 4 year old it was her plant, and she had to water it ever day. Potato is an awesome way to get kids involved, cuz in 3 days there was a sprout, in about 15 days there was like 5 sprouts, and it kept going.

She kept asking, what is it, what is it. Wife was asking too, cuz shes into gardening. "You'll see" I kept saying. After 45 days or so, the leaves started to wilt and die off. Knew it was done. Kids all excited, we dump the pot, and damn there was like 12-15 potatoes of all different sizes. It was pretty cool watching there reaction.

So I'll try chili's anytime.

Big Al:

You ever check your steel supplier for the stainless mesh? If so, what are the dimensions of the opoenings? Pieces like that cut to slide in instead of racks would be ideal. And the less contact of metal to pepper, the better.

You said you didn't do turds. I bet you'd like baby poblanos stuffed with chese & bacon. Minimum heat maximum flavor.

You Brothers tell me the size of the diamond shape you need and I'll find out what the cost is.

Al:

I found a web site that has expanded stainless steel, stainless steel mesh and stainless steel that is "perforated" (round, square, etc. in various sizes). They will also custom cut and the minimum order is $100.

Please check ir out and tell me what you think: http://www.mcnichols.com/products/

Good site and I would use #9 gauge standard 3/4" stainless, if that is the correct size to hold turds and to prevent injury also use their U edge stuff. 9 gause should span the the smoke chamber when loaded with out having to add extra supports. I will measure span in smoke chamber and get a price quote to cut up a 4X8 ft sheet. Steel prices have just gone up AGAIN! :?

I just got a quote. 1 sheet will make 18 trays that are 15.375" X 16" each. The cost is $318.10 and $21 shipping to 63376. That works out to $18.84 each.

Does that include the U shape material to cover the cut ends? I found out the hard way that cut expanded metal edges are very, very sharp.

Oops. Nope. Guess I'll have to call back.
