Melons were that expensive (allowing for inflation) when I was living in Japan in '75-'78 and '81-'85. Of course the only ones we could get were round :mrgreen: There was a really nice open market near where I lived and I used to go there on Saturdays just to see how expensive things were on the economy.

I remember seeing an article about the square melons several years ago -- nice to see a followup article and know that somebody is making a living in agriculture!! :D
