I was meaning, nice for KCBS to have done that. It was discussed, but some thought it would reduce the attendance at the actual banquet.

Which makes sense. Why lose the 3-5 people that came to Philly only to see who won the BOD election or watch their favorite teams take a TOY walk just to have a couple thousand members get to experience it live through the Web?

<that was sarcasm>

it is no different than most elections

Just remember that the ones who will most likely do the most beotching about the BoD are the 79% who said "My vote won't matter so I won't bother".

Congrats on a good campaign, Jeff.

IMO that is a pathetic turn out for voting, 21% what a bunch or horse sh%$! Really wish Jeff Stith would have made it! Would not surprise me if this this voting process is rigged! What a bunch of crap! As a paying member I am VERY disappointed!

I'm very happy for my good friend, Candy Weaver. She will work hard.

I am also very disappointed at the poor voting percentage, but what is even more sad is that 2459 voters only cast 7494 votes. That's an average of three votes per voter. Anyone who did not use all of their votes has no right to complain about the results. There were over 2400 voting opportunities that were thrown away.

They would not see it that way
Voting for less in a small election
has a huge effect on the outcome

Congrats to Candy. She'll do a great job for us.

Jeff, you ran a great campaign and I will support you again next year if you decide to run.

Anyone who did not use all of their votes has no right to complain about the results. I only voted for two people. One of them won, one lost. I think you're off base with your statement. Why vote for someone just to fill the ballot?

I see your point but do not agree. When you vote in that type of election, the more votes you cast, the less your vote actually counts. It is not throwing away opportunities, it is maximizing the one or ones you make and that you most care about.

According to the membership list on this site there are over 4300 members. Guess not many are KCBS members or they are members but chose not to vote.

Also over 4000 KCBS cooks and most teams have multiple members so if they all were KCBS members then at least half didn't vote and those that did voted for status quo.

Can't find the TOY stats on the KCBS site today but as 2009 was for KCBS teams only I know there are way over 1000 cooks that could have voted. So if most cooks wanted change they would have voted for it. Sounds to me like a minority wants change and the majority is happy with the way things are going.

We all know the minority is usually most vocal and the majority is silent when it comes to change.

Congrats to all who won.

LOL! Thanks but I don't see it that way. I did the best I could and just needed to convince 51 more voters. I'm proud of the race, regardless of the outcome. Bro, I was a virtual unknown last July. Most people only started hearing about me in August. It's all good. I'll do what I can to support the board, the organization and the members from where I sit now.
