Ok, I understand that with foodsavers, freezers, various recipes for soup, caseroles, fajitas, stews, breakfasts, etc., etc., you can go on eating leftovers for a long, long time. And that's fine. Well, I'm going to be honest about my inner feelings (the sensitive caring mod), Allright!, Enough Already!, No More Turkey for Awhile !!
We used leftover frozen stock from last year's Turk to make this year's stuffing and gravy. We've had turkey, turkey sandwiches, turkey caserole with stuffing and vegies, turkey and eggs, and I couldn't get everyone to take enough home with them to save us from this situation!
Any Thoughts or Comments? Curious minds want to know. Is this normal behavior, or just a strange Holiday induced abberation? What happens at your house? (On topic, of course ....how does your Pit strategy figure into all this?)

Mike.. its some goofy ritual we must've adopted from the native american indians.... cept they had to eat the leftovers cause the pilgrams didnt bring frreezers.
We had 10 people and approximately 45 lbs of meat. 14# bird, 14# brisket, 2-8# butts, 48 stuuffed shrooms, stuffing... blah blah..blah.... and of course 4 of the 8 people brought cheesecake... the samplers.. the ones with 12 slices of 6 different cheesecakes in it..
All the food was out in chafing dishes.. No one would take anything 'cept pulled pork.. AN Who is stuck with a boatload of cheesecake?? Me.. ON ATKINS!!! Aint no cheesecake gettin past these lips.!
Our T-day was Friday cause we went to family on Thursday, so everyone that came last night allready had there share of turkey on Thursday.. Thats probably why the entire brisket disappeared... and alot of the puled pork.. we had turkey sandwiches at midnight last night... the turkey was out all day today gettin picked at.. I made turkey salad just to do something different.. and that made its way into the food processor to make turkey spread that the kids ate with crackers. . the turkey carcas is still simmering since 3 pm today.. making stock out of that.. (BTW, never throw the skin from a smoked turkey into the soup.. its like making liquid smoke). I just had a mug of stock with what else, chopped up turkey in it.. I AM NOT FREEZING ANYTHING THAT CAN BE MISTAKEN FOR TURKEY. We will continue eatin it till we grow feathers, but I wont store it to have in a month.
Now..... A big bag of pulled pork in around 2 weeks, thats a different story.
Why do we do this.. Dunnoo.. Never have this problem with chickens. :)
Phil stated "BTW, never throw the skin from a smoked turkey into the soup.. its like making liquid smoke."
I don't have a problem with the extra smoke flavor. In fact, I prefer it. I've never made stock that had too much smoke flavor. The problem is that the skin usually has fat attached to it. But that is a minor problem. just pour the hot stock into a tall container like a pitcher. The liquid fat will float to the top and then just pour it out.
If you a tired of turkey, you haven't tried tortilla soup yet.

Or turkey scrapple, or turkey pizza, or turkey cheese dip, or turkey spaghetti, or turkey and cheddar omelettes, or turkey tacos, or , you get the picture.
