After breaking in Miss Bertha I realize she's gotta be drilled for drainage. There have been different approaches posted and listed in 101. What's everyone had success with? Is there a way you've done that hasn't worked so well either? What about drain valve's versus just plain holes?

I think Richie has done the Drain Mod.
I am not sure its listed in the mod section though. It had pictures and everything. I'll check at lunch time.

Go to files, Bandera Mods.....it's like the 3rd or 4th down in PDF format. I've done the mod and the only thing I would change on it is to use a ball type valve instead of the gate valve. Let me know if you have any questions about it.

i got one weep hole in each corner of the smoke chamber. 1/4 inch inch or so. Under the firebricks. Never saw the use for the drain mod. Most gunk is caught in the waterpan, so it not like a horizontal that needs to be hosed out all the time. Weep holes are just for rain that sneaks in or when ya hose it out.
