I see alot of posts about the big wheels coming off but nobody has said anything about the small wheels. Mine fall off all the time. I finaly had to wrap the plastic peg in a sleve of canvas, then pound it back into the leg of the smoker. It seems to be working for now. Anyone have a better fix?

Sounds like what you did will work fine. One of my small wheels always used to fall off when rolling the smoker over a small ledge between the garage and driveway. Pissed me off royally. I fixed mine by tapping the metal frame around the plastic wheel casing with a hammer.
BTW Midnight - I think it was you who gave me some pointers and guidelines a few weeks ago on cooking a roast beef dinner for over a hundred people. Many thanks to you - the dinner was a huge success.

I purchased 4 wheels with pnuematic [that means ya gotta put air in 'em] tires [like you would see on a 2 wheeled hand truck used to move large boxes, etc.] from harbor freight and mounted them dudes in place of the cheap plastic originals. They cost me $4.50 each. Best $20 bucks I ever spent. They have them at most hardware stores but they run about $15 - $20 each. I no longer have to stuggle to move around on the rock driveway or in the grass. The only drawback is that they don't swivel so I have to pick up one end to change directions but it is well worth the trade-off.

Happy to hear your dinner went well. I also move my smoker over a small ledge between the garage door and sidewalk, thats when my wheel usualy falls off. I think I will try your method on the other wheel, sounds simpler and any time you get to bang on something with a hammer it can't be all that bad.
Thanks.

wow
I never had the problems these guys had, but I;m only a year into it.
I gotta defer to Tk on wheel mods, cuz he seems to have done them all. And grinded his beast into the driveway while testing

One of my small wheels fell off day one as I was moving it out of the basment and it fell over against the basment wall as I was just thinking of names to call it, "You Muther Farker" seemed like it was just right and so it is! "Muther Farker" to this day:wink:

LMAO on the photo and ChiBill's comment. First thing I thought of when I saw the photo was "OH NO - another farking wheel mod!!"
It's nice living in FL where I don't have to move my outdoors stuff unless a hurricane is coming :D
