Well fellas, it's getting to be that time of the year when the garden's spent and it's time to till everything under. For those of you with a bunch of green tomatoes left over and you're tired of frying them up, I put a Pickled Green Tomato recipe in the Recipes section under appetizers. Good stuff. Here's a pic:
That's good stuff!
We haven't put any up in years (haven't been gardening much :D). We used to grow Patio Pick tomatoes just to pickle.

Yeah it is. First time I ever had them was at a catfish joint around the corner. Did an online search for a recipe and whadayaknow.....I found one. I was thinking of putting some colored bell pepper or carrots in there for a little color.
Gotta run down to the parents this afternoon and pick my Habs and get the tomatoes. Dad said it was just a few....LOL....but heck that can be anything from a gallon to 5 gallons.
Brisket is in the DP marinade, in the fridge....my body's at work but my mind's out on the back porch. Just hope it's not too chilly to sit out Sat night and enjoy the evening.

I'm just hoping it gets below 70 (at night) and the humidity drops below 90 percent :D
On the pickles - if I remember right the key is the lime bath that keeps the tomatoes nice and crisp. Our recipe had lots of spice and the pickles definatley had a "cinnamon" or "cloves" type zip to them. Man, now I've got to get out the recipe :D Already have the jars and lids!

Farking 26* this morning.
Had to throw a bucket of hot water on the car windows for a quick defrost, otherwise I would have missed the train.
Will be a great WSM test this weekend.
And I will one day try those pickled tomatos. Looks good.

I knew a guy that had a pet coon one time. He'd carry it around on his shoulder and it was pretty gentle.....until that time a guy came down the hill riding a motorcycle with no muffler. That coon sat there slapping that guy's head and he couldn't get away from it. He just kept running around screaming, "Turn it off, turn it off!!". The rest of us thought it was pretty damn funny.
