Over 40 BBQ teams head for
Guntersville, AL barbecue event

ATHENS, Ala. -- American Bass Anglers BBQ Tour stops in Guntersville, AL later this week, and will have 42 teams from as far away as Oklahoma, Missouri and Ohio in the competition. The event is being held just off of Highway 431 in Guntersville, located at Bucky Howe Park, Saturday September 19th. The event will feature a fun BBQ cook-off, the North Alabama Divisional Championship of the Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Weekend Series, and a free concert by “Say It Ain’t So”.

The competition teams are made up of both Professional and Backyard entries. Each Cook Team is trying to win best-of-show in the different meat categories, but their main objective is to win the coveted Grand Champion Award. This is a state BBQ championship event which allows the top cook team to receive a special invitation to post season national BBQ events. The cook-offs, sponsored by Early Times Kentucky Whisky, are a mix of Bass Fishing and BBQ and were created by American Bass Anglers. Both fishing and BBQ are fun and favorite pastimes for many outdoor enthusiasts. ABA’s mix of the two sports has become so popular; it is even trying to be copied by others in the fishing industry.

The events are free admittance to the public, with lots of vendors and BBQ to taste. The Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Weekend Series weigh in will take place starting at 3pm and the free concert will follow shortly. Bring the family and your lawn chairs, and enjoy the festivities of the day.
All activities are free and open to the public.

Bucky Howe Park is located on the lake across from Outlaw Steakhouse, at the corner of Highway 431 and Wyeth Drive.

Sponsors of the American Bass Anglers Barbecue Cook-off Tour include Early Times Kentucky Whisky, the Marshall County Convention & Visitors Bureau, Holiday Inn of Guntersville, Triton Boats, Mercury Marine, Royal Purple, Stop Repair Bills.com and the Official Grill of the Tour -- FAB Grills.
