I made it a point to walk around more at this comp. It was great to spend some time with Roy of Tar Heel Smokers, Mike with Chix Swine & Bovine, Bill and Gary of My Side of the Mountain, and Big Ugly. And I got to meet Scottie of CancersucksChicago.

The weather threatened to get us wet on Friday but it stayed overcast and cool on Saturday. Perfect Q'in weather. Sunday was beautiful.

On top of everything BBQ-wise, the music was incredible! Charlie Daniels rocked the place Saturday night. There mustve been over 6000 people there Saturday night.

I'll be back next year for sure.

Congrats to everyone who walked but especially to Cat Sass for their first calls and top 10 finish!

I might be new to the forum (i think April 2009) but hopefully I can be considered part of the Brethren. I enjoyed visiting with the team I had a chance to meet with. Bringing a bike along definately helped with that.

Congrats to all that got calls. Especially Tarheels Smokers and Chix Swine and Bovine. They have been helpful and incredibly welcoming to me and my family since we met and that is truly appreciated. That pretty much goes for all teams we have met. I guess that is part of what "brethren" means.

You got it, Rick. Part of being a Brethren means we help each other make better Q.

It was great watching you amd your family walk and then take GC. I talked to you at Mike's camper while Charlie Daniels was playing. Congrats again!

Rick and family, many congrats on the GC. That was awesome, great job!

Mark, pleasure to talk to ya for a while, hopefully we'll hook-up at a comp and do it again.

Scottie, it was a pleasure to finally meet you and talk for a spell.

This continues to be a great contest, although the judges were brutal (you know who you are Judge #6). We should be there again next year, showing off my "Chubby"!

It was also a shot of Drambuie and a pickled cherry... While I am Scottish and my mom would of been happy.. I had to go and rinse my mouth out with a little Clonesicle....

Good meeting you all. Very cool part of the country you folks have out there.

Officially state # 23 that my team has cooked...

Looking forward to seeing many of you again in Front Royal and Rocky Mount. I wish I had a chance to get to talk with the folks at CancerSucksChicago. Not only do folks that win the Jack pretty much "rock star" to me but I hear you guys are just good people.

Scottie

Don't know about Rock Star Rick. But I did get to meet the Charlie Daniel's Band, as the drummer Pat came over and introduced himself to me after he saw my team name. He is a survivor and just wanted to say thanks.

I'l be back out in those parts. Dan from 3eyz was recruitring me for Dover... Maybe next year.... Or go to Bill's contest in July in Virginia...

You can't go wrong with either contest. If you need help deciding, just ask Bill, he'll help you decide which is better

Remenber who I was next to? Actually, he didn't recruit me much. Which is nice, because I don't even know if I am cooking next week, never mind 2010.
