I have checked the faq's and such and was unable to find this.

Is there a difference between hickory and shag bark hickory?

I have a neighbor that says he just lost a huge shagbark hickory in one of our storms this year that I am welcome to. If shag bark hickory is fine then I have enough hickory(as if i didn't already) for the midwest guys for the next few years.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot, I have another neighbor that just lost an apple tree. I am cutting that down this coming weekend. Plenty of apple too.

Shag Bark Hickory?

Hmmm... is that from an Austin Powers movie? Was it some kind of Mary Jane maybe?

Nah has a different bark. kind of sheds like a dog. I see you are a st louis person also. If it is good I will be bringing it to St. Louis by the truckload. You missed the first hickory handoff/bar bash.

And I'll be happy to take some off your hands!

I never heard about the St. Louis meet/greet planning. I'll be at B2 though.

I should be setting up an Apple cutting festival in December. Might also come into some Oak up in Chi-Town. Friend has some trees he wants to clear, dunno when though.

Looks like the shag bark is good. I will commence with the cutting.

nthole,

we all got chopped off in the chat, Morris is where I am at, southwest of joliet, 5 miles off of 55. I make frequent trips to St. Louis. Seafood party is the 20th. There are directions to my place in the files section.
