Guys, last weekend I did a pork butt for a BBQ this weekend. Last weekend when I smoked the butt, I had a pseudo-vegetarian over for a dinner and a few brews. I left a little of the pulled pork on the counter along with my other offerings for dinner while I put away next weekend's pulled pork in the fridge. I had to chase my pseudo-vegetarian friend away from the cutting board to stop him from eating all the pulled pork. This past weekend at the BBQ, he had his pseudo-vegetarian girlfriend with him as well. They both zeroed in on the pulled pork, and wanted nothing else. The girlfriend told me that she doesn't eat pork, but this was great. When the BBQ broke up, they asked the host if they could take the remainder of the pulled pork home with them (was very little left). It doesn't get any better than this.

Great story -- sounds like you had some excellent product to help with the conversion :D

Yes, this one did come out pretty good. Mixed it with a half a cup each of cider vinegar and apple juice, some of Byron's Butt rub that I used when smoking it, and a large onion, sliced thin and carmelized. Mixed it well and heated it up good on top of the stove. Served BBQ sauce on the side.

Oh yeah! I can smell it from here :D
I've found that using a "finishing" sauce after cooking helps the taste come out in pulled pork. It's real simple: some vinegar, a little worchestershire sauce, and a touch of hot sauce (Crystal, Franks, Tobasco, etc.), and a little salt.
Heat it up and then pour it over the meat and toss to coat -- it doesn't take much but it does enhance the flavor you've built up during the cooking. I only use about a cup of finishing sauce for a 5-7# butt -- you're looking to enhance not overwhelm.
I too serve sauce on the side.
At least that's my opinion :D
