Trying to cypher my notes here so it may take you a couple of calls:

1.) 770-432-2223 is a number for New Braunfils that Home Depot gave me.

2.) 800-392-4537 is a number for CharBroil who actually own the name and make the grill.

3.) 800-241-8981 I THINK is the number that the nice young lady at CharBroil gave me for their direct sales. The reason I said I THINK is that it is written below the 2nd number on my note pad but that is never any proof of anything when it comes to my organization skills. But, try it first and work backwards if necessary. DO NOT LET THEM SUGGEST A STORE!! I had to stop him short because he apparently doesn't have access to records on what stores actually carry what models. Just tell them nobody has one in your area and u want to order one.

Good Luck;

Good job! Now this is an example of networking that really works -- too bad I've never been in a situation where this kind of networking resulted in a job!! :D

Job? Yeah, unfortunately :D

I enjoy working with my users but my organization sucks wind! I've got resumes all over the place but the only offer I had was from Omaha, NE. I wouldn't mind living in Omaha but they wouldn't pay the move costs and the money wasn't quite there without it.

Of course if I keep hanging around you guys things might change :D

I just joined the BRETHEN !
I've been wanting a Bandera for the past year of so and the local WALMARTS carry them for $250. Being the a tight wad that I am I've been waiting for WALMART to drop the price.
Finally last night I purchased my Bandera for $150. They were asking $175 but after a thurough bitching from my wife about the lousy service they have in the garden section, we got a deal from the manager along with a nice deal on a fake X-Mas tree. They were asking $69 for the tree we got it for $20.
Sometimes it pays to take your female shopping with you..
I live in the NorCal area.
Happy shopping!!

Congrats on the deals at Wally World!! :D

The Banderas available locally are still $249 -- the Bandera is never "on sale" though other offset smokers are marked down. I patiently wander the grill/smoker areas frequently -- should see some movement after Christmas -- Florida is year round outdoor cooking but the Christmas stuff takes over the stores around here -- I did hear one of the guys from a new Lowes say that the grills/outdoor stuff should be coming in shortly after the first of the year.

I also don't know what's going to be under my Christmas tree -- I'm hoping Bandera but would graciously accept an offset like the Black Diamond, etc. :D

brd1958 Brian?

What is your new avatar - to me it starts out as a toilet and ends up as a gravy boat?

justicetooie,

I bought a Bandera from Wally World a few weeks ago for $173. Been using it once or twice per week since.

Good buy on your part!

Whacha going to cook on it first (after the first burn-in seasoning)?

I'm guessing that since we are year 'round (Central Florida) for outdoors cooking and entertaining the stores never really have to clear out the big stuff. They put the grills on sale (usually the small ones that change design each year) but the classic stuff like offset smokers, large charcoal and gas grills, etc. hardly ever see more that a 10-15% difference.

Guess I need to travel "up north" to buy my smoker! :D

Naw Dave, it's too friggin' cold up here! Pay the full price and enjoy the fact you can use it all year round. :)

Do some of the most critical mod and windbreak your smoker and it'll do the job. Heck, Greg apparently prefers the cold, at least for smoking cheese.

No garage or covered porch, so it's me and the elements this time of year, with the deck facing the northeast. I guess I could try to make a wind break out of the tarp I keep Black Beauty snuggled up in when she's not being used. Sounds like a wind break mod in the making.
