First thing I want to say is congrats to all who toughed out some crappy weather. We were pretty lucky but some teams had to splash through a lot of mud and standing water. Most people would pack up and go home with weather like that but the BBQ folks were tough (or crazy) enough to stick it out.

Second, congrats to all who walked. As usual, lots of Brethren teams got calls. Way to represent! :-D

Third, we had an awesome weekend. I really enjoyed catching up with as many of you as I could and I'm sorry that I didn't get around to a few of you, Lo n Slo and Smokin Gnome included. You guys are at every contest we do but I never seem to manage to get over and say hi. I only wish I had time to do more of these contests with you all. Vinny, We missed you this weekend.

And last...,

John, where's the video??? :oops::biggrin:

What about Kids Q?

Congrats to all that walked. Really sorry that we missed the event but Josh was having stomach problems and still is. We may have lost our spot for next year. It was good coming up Friday and seeing a number of people. I hope that you enjoyed the orzo and roasted vegie entree. HBope to you @ Schrewsbury, and if not soon. Again ongrats to all.

Sorry, I don't have the results for that. We didn't have a kid entered so we didn't get a sheet. Maybe someone else can post them up?

first time I've ever been at a contest where if I seriously thought about going home friday night,, and the rain had nothing to do with it,, been fighting a sinus infection for over a week ,and this weekend it decided to get worse,, but we toughed it out,, didn't do so well excpet for our 10th place ribs,, but still as always a good contest, Congrats to all that got calls, Did make it to the pub saturday night for dinner,, along with a bunch of other brethren,,,, where Sal was banished to the corner..lol... now gotta get ready for W. Virginia in two weeks,, hopefully this sinus infection will clear out by then...

Another great weekend in New Holland! I cant say enough about this contest. It truly is my favorite one of the year, even with all of the rain. All of that rain caused my pork to get "tiny bubbles" Congrats to all who walked. Top 3 in chicken did, #1 in ribs and sausage, 1&2 in both pork and brisket. In chef's choice the top 12 were 170+

In fact, the top 3 in chef's choice all scored 178.2858! How do you break a tie like that?

My one and only compliant about this contest is the cooks meeting. It is at 7, we don't get out of there until 8 with boxes. It is a bit unorganized as far asking each team one at a time what extra categories we are doing. We check that off in the application. I understand that the kids que is going on before it so that is the reason why we start the meeting so late. I just wish they would give us the boxes earlier in the day. Other than that I cant wait until next year!!!

Congrats to all who walked. Sorry I didn't get a chance to see more people. We can in late Friday & then retreated to a hotel for a little sleep.

We had a great time helping Dan (3-eyz) mostly staying out of his way and running boxes.

We were way in the back corner and with the weather, didn't around much to visit. We had a terrible showing and can understand most of it.
I would like to ask for some help on ribs. I did a 3-2-1 and they were still tough. They were on the two lower racks of the Fatboy at fairly consistent temp of 225. Nice smoke ring, but still not tender.

Thanks for the congrats. As always, I wish I had a chance to get around more and visit. The rain didn't make that any easier either. See you all next time!

Tiny bubbles, still laughing at that one!

Sad part is, is anyone else going to actually look out for bubbles now? Just add that to the list!

I have it on video, kind of...1st they announced the VERY SLIPPERY walk way, then you slip...I figured with the 12 pack after turn in I consumed it would be better to crawl up the step rather then risk it!!

great seeing every one!! hope all had safe travels home. I am already looking forward to next year!!

I have it on video, kind of...1st they announced the VERY SLIPPERY walk way, then you slip...I figured with the 12 pack after turn in I consumed it would be better to crawl up the step rather then risk it!!
I saw that. I thought you were having some fun at my expense. Did you hear me yell "smart ass!"?
Sorry we never made it over to talk to you again this year, you guys are only a few spots away from us. The rain made it nasty to get around much. Next time for sure.

Congrats to all who walked. Sorry I didn't get a chance to see more people. We can in late Friday & then retreated to a hotel for a little sleep.

We had a great time helping Dan (3-eyz) mostly staying out of his way and running boxes.

Tom

Tom and Christy - Thanks for helping out Dan in my absence, great job on the sausage also!!!

Other than that I cant wait until next year!!!
spoke with a committee member for new holland, the issue has already been address, and next year, it should be setup to get the boxes before hand... so hopefully the cooks meeting will go smoother than years past.

And THAT is a perfectly example why this contest is so great

I will definitely put up with an extended cooks meeting when the organizer has access to stylish and powerful New Holland Tractors to pull you out of the mud!

And special thanks to Smokin' Turkey for hauling out our rig with his 4x4 Avalanche! I believe I still owe you $16 dollars for the rub you gave my cousins. You can keep the bill for the the tow!

Great seeing everyone. Good times as always. And Sled - the PA Pizza was quite good!
