Just to let everyone know, I received the grill and the islands. Its a monster. With the granite islands its like 13ft long.

Anyway I began clearing a spot (weeding) in the yard off the concrete. My goal is to put it there. But I need to lay down pavers or flagstone down. However, I have some other locations in mind as well. Maybe on the concrete. It would be easier. My concern is that the concrete is graded and is not totally level. How would that affect the setup/operation?

I'll take pics and post them ASAP. Maybe we can take a poll with a couple of questions so I can get your recommendations.

Where to put my smokers now.

If you want it on the concrete, buy enough thin pavers to go under the legs and a bundle of cedear wedges (shims, like builders use to fix all their mistakes) and a nice straight 2x4 and a level. Place pavers and shim to level using 2x4 and level to span pavers. Final leveling and shimming can be done when unit is on pavers.

Do you have natural gas? If so get a conversion kit and pipe gas over to it. That way youalways have gas, no refilling bottles and it's safer.

Some grills can not be rejetted. dont be surprised if a rejet kit requires a near complete replacment of all the plumbing.

I use no more that 2 40# tanks in a summer on my DCS 48 commercial.
One to start in the spring, and one change out about mid summer, which finished up my summer.

BTW, I use my broilmaster with 20Lb tanks for small meals, or my weber kettel. I will use at least 3 20# tanks over a summer, so this offsets the use of my DCS48.

I save the big boy)dcs48) for volume, rotiserre or High heat(searing).

Also, if I remember correctly, propane burns hotter than NG. Ya really think its worth the trouble of running lines unless it right there in the imediate area.????

Here on Long Island, to do it to code, and run gas lines to the grill, we need check valves, shut off valves, and a trench 24-26 inches deep run to the grill. Check your requirments before converting.

A 40Lb tank takes nothing to get fired up. And the pics have a slideout drawere for easy replacment.

Get 2 40# tanks and your covered for a season.

IMHO... my $.02.

Craig,

Does this jewel have a built-in smoke box for wood chips?

Great machine,

Eric

You can remove one of the grates and put a box in there.

The smoke box is an accessory though.
