Phil, ran first test and we have discussed a design change to the remoable basket divider. Because of the low oxgen content in the air at my altitude of 6,700 ft, I have trouble getting the smoke chamber over 260 F and did not have the same results with a long burn like Phil did.
The change will be to add a second divider with about 1 inch air gap to slow down the self lighting of coals in the right side of the basket. Gonna build one and ship to Phil this week for retest.
Basket also fits inside his Klose. :D

I think the real question here is, at 6700 feet, how does the Southern Flavor taste?

1 tester just isn't a valid sample size (could just be user error).

user error?? Hmmmm
fill left side with lit coals.
fill right side with unlit coals
check clock and temperature every 15 mins.
duhhhhhhhh.... what did i do!!!!
What happened was the entire side lit within an hour and temps spike to over 300. The airspace between 2 divoiders will delay the ignition and also dampen the heat radiating to the other side.

i built a basket like the Klose basket so the coals would burn in an S shape had two dividers not all the way through( smoke'em if ya got'em posted in yahoo)
but my basket did the same thing GOT HOTT but i'm gonna put some fire brick in the middle of the basket
i think it will be a heat sink as well as a wider divider
