It's been announced that the 2010 KCBS Banquet will be held in Philadelphia the weekend of 2/20/2010.

Just though y'all should know.

When I called the KCBS office this week, they told me it was Jan. 15-16. They have not picked a location yet. They are going in two weeks to tour 4 hotels.

Interesting questions.

I guess they figure that you don't need to know the dates or what hotel in order to answer!

Thats not true at all. Like all major cities it has its neighborhoods, but there are plenty of nice area.

I was told by a bunch of people that DC bbq battle was terrible because of the people, I went there and I had no problem, nor did I see any. I guess depending on where you are from and what you are use to would make you think differently of people and areas. Talk to Jack Mcdavid, he lives in Philly and owns two restaurants there, see his opinion on it being bad. Just know where you are going and you will be fine.

PS - they have some fine crack out there.

Ps again - you may not want to go out there in your elvis costume!!!

OC, read it again.

I think that he said that you CAN (as in having the ability to) go from the airport to the hotel without going outside.

I don't know about Philly, but you can certainly do that in NY.

He probably did, being from the area and seeing the news everynight, you have to take anything directed towards staying inside as a negative comment!! I am not defending philly, I just want people to know that there is more then murder and crack. They have heroin too!!!

Just messing around, there are a lot of good things to see there.

LOL I thought it was a positive thing
If the weather is bad you don't need to go out
If its just cold you can venture out

Philly makes perfect sense. Afterall, it IS the hotbed of barbeque in...well... Pennsylvania.

No, that would be New Holland. Philly is the hotbed of World Championship Baseball and under-achieving Football and Hockey.

Philly is a great town - as long as you stay on the west side of the river Philly offers unlimited options during the day and has a great night life!!

I'm sure he was saying it is like what we had when we went to Houston... you fly into the airport and take ther train to the connected Marriott Hotel at George Bush Intercontinental! It's right there connected and you don't have to ever go outside. I don't believe anything bad was being said about Philadelphia.

If you are going to try a "steak" in Philly you have to get the new cheesesteak book on all of the historical places; great read! I was thumbing through it in Pudges in Blue Bell, my favorite place for steaks, just last week. Lots of good food here in all varieties!

Philly is central between New England and Virginia. Try to make it as central as possible for more members. NYC is a great place but prices are super high. Hopefully Philly will fit the bill. Martain Luther King weekend as always. The weather here is not quite as rough as Boston.

If you use public trans. here, go to the SEPTA site and get a train/bus schedule so you get where you need to go. And yes, I walk to the R5 line and ride all the way to the airport if I wish; one train change at Market st. Philly is a great city, lots of history and the Liberty Bell

lots of history and the Liberty Bell
When I lived there in the 70's you could even walk upto and touch the Libery Bell. Now it is encased in glass and can be seen from a far distance. Aint the same. Use to have some liberties.

We are fortunate to only be a couple of hours away and will attend:-D It will be our first time (hopefully not the last). Charm City would have been nice also with multiple airports and things to do (even in winter). Feel bad for those with plans for KC but really happy it is on the east coast. When the decision was made to move every other year concerns with the location decision were bound to arise. Everything goes according to plan we will also attend next year for the anniversary. Safe travels to all

theirs two new casinos in the philly area. 1 in chester 5 min. from downtown and one at philadelphia race park(horse track) mostly slots and electronic card tables but much closer. i think their is also a train direct from philly to ac.

The train to AC is from 30th street station. Iit's an $8 commuter train and takes about 2 hours. The train station is a fair distance from the casinos so you need to take a cab once you get there, you definitely don't want to walk:eek:
