A big shout to Big T'z. These guys have it together and it shows with the results.
When it comes to winning, these guys are a class act and I enjoy watching Big T'z take the walk for Grand.
Of course I would enjoy it more if it were my team.

I'm sorry that we didn't get over to meet you, too Ray! We walked around for a while on Friday night but we ddin't get too far from home.

I understand your excitement about pork. Pork was our weak category last year so i worked on it over the winter as well. That and some help from Plowboy (thanks, Todd!) and now were getting calls more consistently.

Congrats to all!

It was fun sitting at the awards ceremony and hearing all of the Brethren teams getting calls! When i was walking up to pick up our Pork award I heard someone yell "Fear The Pig!"! I didn't see who it was but I knew. Thanks for the support, Dave (Rookie48)! :-D

We have been more consistent in our overall finishes so far this year and as i mentioned above we're doing better in pork. Now I need to fine tune the chicken. I don't know, however, what happened to our ribs this weekend. Let's just say that the judges and I chose to disagree strongly about the quality of our rib entry. They may not have been 1st place ribs, but they certainly weren't 56th place ribs! If we had been in the top 25% we would have had the GC.

Congrats on all the walks! Big T'z is on fire!! Great job to Ray & Jay (and the birthday boy) on the 1st in pork :eusa_clap It was a great weekend and nice to meet some more brethren. Ron the margaritas were great!!

Great weekend for sure! Thanks for the margaritas Ron! I really thought my ribs and brisket were better than what the judges thought but oh well! It was awesome to see the smokehouse boys get the call! It's good to see guys win and they actually act happy about getting the call, there were a couple teams that acted like it was a bother to walk up and get their ribbon-if it's not that enjoyable why compete?
But I digress....
See you guys at waterloo...hopefully on time this time!

Was so happy to see you guys get that call on Pork, especially with the frustration you have had over it. I hope you heard my Mom cheering you on as you walked up!

We were talking late the night before about how this was a qualifier for the Butt to Butt, we will have a good time there in 2010. I know I will be there for the Championship--I have heard it is a fantastic contest!

I'm sure we'll be at another comp together and we can get to know each other. We were along the circle drive not too far from Tippycanoe (if you saw Joe's site). I'd say that we were in the SW corner of the park.

Congrats on the win!

Big T's is on a roll. Congrats to all the brethren who walked.

Rod--I have to share with you one thing that has stuck in my mind as the highlight of my weekend. I thought about PM'ing you, but I think the other Brethren should hear it as well.

After the awards ceremony we went back to our site and were sitting there enjoying what just happened and procrastinating the eventuality that was packing up and leaving. During this time your son walked by, as he did many times that weekend, to take out the trash or fill up your water jugs. As he walked by, he made it a point to stop and get my father's attention and congratulate us on our success. I think the two of them talked for almost five minutes about it. Perhaps you are used to it because he is your son, but I have to say that stopped me dead in my tracks. What is he 13-14 years old? I used to teach students his same age, and I have to say that in that moment he showed me a maturity that blew me away. You should be proud!

Good meeting more brethren this weekend and seeing others again. That was a great time. Bit warm and no rain (except for about 10 minute drizzle right before awards, which kind of cooled the day off).

Proud as hell of my bro - ribs and brisket were money! We feel fortunate with the pork call, it was a bit on the salty side (twice in a row now). Judges had our chicken pegged - it was horrible. I wouldn't have scored it as high as most of the judges gave us, for what we turned in the 150 was generous.

Congrats to all who walked and big congrats to our RGC and GC.
