This week BobBrisket has chosen Casseroles. I'm already hungry!

Here is the simple and unchanging list of rules for the BBQ Brethren Throwdown which we follow every week!

1) The item must be either Grilled or Smoked.
2) Entries must be cooked during the current throwdown week ( 6/22 - 6/28 ).
3) All pics (any number) must be submitted by 9pm Central on 6/29.
4) Only one picture from one dish will be used for voting, so please specify which one you want used, otherwise I will choose and my decision will be final.
5) If you have any problems with any of the entries, believing them not to be qualified for any reason, please use the ***VOTE*** thread and exercise your power of voting against those entries. Any complaints posted in any Throwdown thread, or directed to me via any other means will be ignored.

The voting will begin by Tuesday 6/30 after I submit the "Vote" thread and voting will close on Sunday 7/5. All votes will be public.

Next weeks category will be decided by the winner of the Around the World throwdown, Grillinski!

Best of luck and even better eats to all!

I know the rule says grilled or smoked but does it apply to this weeks catagory ? I guess I could throw some pulled pork in the mix.

Those rules apply every week. The typical workaround for most is if the dish itself is not cooked on a grill or smoker, then some part of the ingredients should be with photo evidence of the item being grilled or smoked. In the end it all comes down to the voters to decide any rules beyond the ones posted.

Bob, lately I have been getting i'll from the heat. I forgot about the heat man. I forgot about Houston 88 % humidity, 98 degree heat. The Dry heat around the pit don't help. LOL

That Texas heat and humidity is a mother!! That pit looks really nice all loaded up that way. What kind problems does the humidity create with cooks and a pit that size? Hang in there.

Steak Pasta Alfredo casserole thingamabob (yeah that's it)

Put a little something together with some leftover steak from Saturday. Boiled some pasta up to al dente, then added it to the chopped up steak, layered it with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese, and topped with parm and a little paprika for color. Slapped it in the smoker at 450 degrees and 20 minutes later and some grilled garlic bread on the pizza stone and siced tomatoes it was ready to eat. This is my entry!!!!

Well, I guess you've thrown down the gauntlet. Okay, I'll pick it up and accept the challenge....... Here is one of my secret weapons in the Casserole Throwdown. I'm all done, and mine fits the classic definition, and then some. Stay tuned for more pictures.

Okay, here we go. For the Casserole Throwdown I did a slightly modified version of King Ranch Chicken Casserole. First, I cooked some legs and jalapenos on the BDS, then picked some of the meat off.

After that it was all pretty easy, the onion and green pepper were sauteed and the soups were mixed with some chicken broth. Tortillas went into the bottom of the dish and the layering was as follows: chicken, onion & pepper, jalapenos, garlic, melting cheese, and soup. This was repeated but this time the final topping was some Ro-Tel tomatoes. About 40 minutes into the cook some yellow cheese was added, then some home made salsa went on at the end.

I'd like this shot with the salsa as my entry photo.
