Just so you all know there was a change of venue. I guess they had trouble getting enough power in Liberty Field. Here is a picture where we will be. I don't know how they are going to get 44 teams in this little parking lot. I guess they have something figured out. Not to mention we will be closer to the train tracks than the Washington contest. So we are looking at tight quarters, loud whistles, and unbearable heat. Sounds awesome.

Cheers,
Nate

stlgreg
06-24-2009, 09:07 AM
yes, I was kidding about the alcohol.

All vending will be on the otherside of the tracks. So a couple of teams will be there the whole time. He said we have the option of selling our leftovers on Saturday. If we want to we will have to move to the otherside of the tracks.

He told me he may hit 48 teams.

stlgreg
06-24-2009, 09:07 AM
oh yeah, he is calling KCBS about the reps today.
He said he talked to them yesterday and they asked him three or four times if he was having a dessert category.

Great job by all. Especially big o dang o

Thanks
This was a weekend of firsts for BIG O' Dang O'.
1st Time we ever placed in Brisket
1st Time we ever placed in Pork
1st Time we ever won a category
1st Time we ever got RGC
1st Time we ever were kept up all night by Trains :icon_pissed
1st Time it was so hot we didn't actually need to use hot coals to keep the cooker at 200 degrees

We must have landed at the right tables.....Of all my entries, I thought I might get a call in ribs but that was it. I was totally shocked when they called us for 1st in Brisket. (Historically, it is not our best category)

Everyone deserves an award for not packing up their stuff and saying "F" it in that heat. The lengths we go through to have "Fun". I think we're all nuts.

Nah...without my brother there, I had to drink all alone....well, mostly alone.
Come to think of it....without my brother there, my alcohol consumption was down quite a bit.....I'm starting to see the correlation.
We'll be alone in Glasgow also...so we'll see if it was a fluke.

To be honest, my brother usually does the chicken. So I can't even pretend to blame him for some of my past pork and brisket disasters.
That's all me baby....the good the bad and the ugly
