Here is the simple and unchanging list of rules for the BBQ Brethren Throwdown which we follow every week!

1) The item must be either Grilled or Smoked.
2) Entries must be cooked during the current throwdown week ( 4/13 - 4/19 ).
3) All pics (any number) must be submitted by 9pm Central on 4/20.
4) Only one picture from one dish will be used for voting, so please specify which one you want used, otherwise I will choose and my decision will be final.
5) If you have any problems with any of the entries, believing them not to be qualified for any reason, please use the ***VOTE*** thread and exercise your power of voting against those entries. Any complaints posted in any Throwdown thread, or directed to me via any other means will be ignored.

The voting will begin by Tuesday 4/21 after I submit the "Vote" thread and voting will close on Sunday 4/26. All votes will be public.

Next weeks category will be "Beans", as decided by the winner of the Dry Rubbed throwdown, Ron L!

Best of luck and even better eats to all!

Ummm... While I have been accused of being full of Bologna, I was not the winner of the Bologna Throwdown.

You should be flattered Ron.

When Chris sees words that contain a "log", he thinks of you.

I gotta at least throw my entry into the ring and keep RTD honest. Man, his steak does look good. I picked up 2 T-bones today for $5.70 a pound. It sure is nice living in the midwest:!::wink: Both had evoo with Cabelas whiskey steak season and topped with grilled baby portabella mushrooms. The last shot is for the entry into the throwdown.

Cripes, I cannot resist clicking on any link that promises to have an image of steak and now I am totally craving one. I sent myself some gorgeous rib-eyes but then left them down in Indianapolis w/ Chef JJ. Is he on this forum? Maybe he can cook 'em up and I'll enter by proxy :)

ps I prefer steaks without the char, hope that's not a must have to win.

Nothing too fancy here, had one piece of frozen sirloin hidden in the freezer, thawed overnight. Couple pieces of Texas garlic toast w/ fresh grated parm. Cooked till 130 and let rest for 5 minutes. The devoured it in 2 minutes:cool:

I don't think I should officially enter this into the throwdown because it's been like 9 months since I took this picture. But I thought I would throw a little something different into the mix. Char-grilled NY strip that was marinated in Chimichurri.

Chuck Eye Steak, check out the price, and in my opinion as good as, or better than rib eye.

Seasoned with Sea salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.

Crash Hot Potatoes, don't remember which one of the brethren turned me on to these from the Pioneer Woman website but they are FARKIN awesome.

OK, so I don't miss the deadline, I will just provide links for now. All with a point & click camera and zero talent in the photography department!

We went with one Porterhouse and one T-Bone. My favorite classic steak cut is Sirloin or bone-in Rib-Eye. But give me a porterhouse and Filet Mignon and NY/KC Strip become my very close friends.

We bought the whole piece and had them cut & cryovak for us to freeze.

Here's the T-Bone on the grill: http://www.flickr.com/photos/omegadog/3455733579/

Here's a close up of the results. The actual color was a gorgeous rare red:

And my money shot:

And a slightly different angle:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/omegadog/3455736331/

Ate another one of these tonight, teaching my daughter's 16-year old boyfriend how to cook a steak. So fun.

Thanks!
