I've seen it snow here in March a time or two but beer drinking would go well with a March snow in Ark. BTW, IIRC there's a liquour store <6 blocks from the site - just in case you run low ya know.

Yes it does snow in March. This is our house last year on March 7th and March 8th. The good part is that it doesn't stick around too long. It does hang out long enough to build a snowman though

If we get a warm southerly breeze, the finish line for the Eazy-Up races will be the Arkansas River. If it's a blue norwester, best wear your flak jackets to retrieve 'em from the hood! We'd best bring beer AND whiskey, just to be safe from the elements.

I just looked at it on Google Maps. It looks like we'll all be set up in 2 parking lots right in front of the Center. The whole cooksite area appears to be about 400' x 600' according to the little distance marker. Google 1200 President Clinton Avenue and zoom in a little to see it better. If you want to get a really good look, find the little yellow "man" on top of the zoom controls and drag him over to the map. That gives you the street view....pretty neat stuff.

This time of year, in that part of the country you can expect anything as far as weather goes. That forecast will change a couple of times between now and then. Pack some rain gear, and clothes that you can layer if we get a cold snap......or you can probably wear shorts and watch everybody else shiver:wink:

Congratulations to all the teams that got their names called:cool:.

It was a tough weekend, but it was great to get to see old friends again and make new ones.

I didn't have time for much visiting but I did get a few pictures just before turn ins started of the guys around my camp. I'm sure you'll recognize some of the folks:cool:

What a test of endurance.

It was great to meet a few of the brethren.

I didn't get a lot of pics but I did get this bit of footage which should give you a feel for the misery.

Great Video Cliff!!

This weekend was destined to be the weekend from hell for me... Had to drop $$$$ on the trailer before we left, few little bugs here and there... I saw someone mentioned tight quarters.... I might have squeezed my 5th wheel into its spot by nudging a neighbors airstream slightly south.

All I can say is --even though I got my arse handed to me, and it was cold, wet and sometimes windy... this was a GREAT weekend. I got to see alot of folks I dont see much; Rodger, Ritchie and spending time with the NE contingent is always fun. Carmen and my girls had a great time. So thanks to Steve and the ISS crew for hosting dinner and breakfast in their site.

Had a blast!!!!

I'd like to give a special thank you to Andy and Jeff for helping me get my trailer brakes unlocked:roll: When I unloaded today I found the key to my brakes that had locked up laying in the back of my truck:confused:. I guess some good samaritan picked it up and put it there:?:

:-P:-P I have to give a special thanks to Jorge. Not only did he show after a trip to San Antonio. But he brought sausage for an army, Some dear friends: Tito, A Gentleman named Jack, some Sammy Spawn in a BLUE bottle.... Then, after getting our arses handed to us, he cooked some killer fajitas for dinner....including fresh Guacamole, and homemade TX beans.

We had a great time hanging out and shooting the snit. Including drinking some Shiner that was cold enough without ever being put on ice!! In between, he managed to keep us ship shape, hunt down kiddos, and help Todd and I in any other way we needed.

Jorge has always gone above and beyond the call of duty, and this was no different... We're sure glad he made the trip.

Thanks for the GREAT time, Jorge. You made the trip!!

As an aside...
Kim said next time she is not going to have other libations (or lack of sleep) before she gets 4.6L of intoxication, 300 proof, delivered manually, whatever that means....

At the awards presentations I had just noticed Dustaway and walked over to say hello when they mispronounced QUAU again and he opined he'd be glad if they misprounced him in the calls when the announcer said something akin to 'This is the best team name I've seen so far'; ----------- She Thinks My Slabs Are Sexy!!!

Congrats!

Congrats to all those that walked this weekend. It was a rough night but it turned out to be a pretty good day.

That video that Cliff posted pretty much summed it up, cold, wet and miserable. Had it not been for us having that kerosene heater in the EZup (vented properly, of course), it would have been that much worse. Of course, we had our good neighbors checking on us from time to time too just to make sure we were doing ok. :-D:-D

Rodger, you don't know how bad I wanted to take you up on the offer of the camper, my friend. That night will just make me appreciate it that much more when we get a camper one day. I would like to expand upon your reference though and say I was as cold as a witches mammary in a brass brassiere doing pushups in the snow. Funny thing is, it seemed like it got colder after the rain stopped. Sorry about your trailer brakes. I remember glancing over at you right before we pulled out and saw you looking at your trailer tire but it wasn't flat so I thought you were just giving things a once over before you hit the road. I should've stopped and said something but I'm glad Andy and Jeff were there to help you. Looking forward to seeing you again in Lula!

Andy....I thought I was going to get my ace handed to me after tasting yours and Jeff's chicken. Dayum good stuff! When you left, I remember telling the rest of my gang that the best we could hope for in chicken that day was third....LOL. Good seeing ya'll again and see you again in Hot Springs in Sept!

Jeff.....next time you come up to our EZup, you just walk on in like you own it. Good seeing ya'll again and please keep in touch with me about next May. I meant what I said about that.

George/Todd....nice to finally meet you guys! It's so cool to meet people on here that you've been talking to for such a long time. Definately look forward to seeing ya'll again sometime.

Dallas....everytime I walked by your camp you looked busy and I just figured I'd walk by later when things calmed down and chat but then the rain set in. I did see Joe and Cliff walking around on Saturday and talked with them for a little bit. If ya'll are doing Hot Springs in Sept, we'll see you then.

Hope to meet some of ya'll in Lula in April!

Just out of curiousity, did anybody get comments attached to their scoresheets? We didn't but I saw some slips of paper attached to some of the other teams scoresheets when I was picking up ours. The judges had the option to use them and I was just wondering if it was helpful info.

It was great to see old friends and meet some new ones! I started one post to mention everyone, but it just got too long!

I can't thank Andy, Kim, their girls, and Todd enough. It was cold, wet, and windy at times but I had a great time! I hope you can come down later this year to see us!

Something struck me as I was driving home, and it wasn't a hangover. I spent some time around some great kids. I love Andy and Kim's girls. Charlie and Carlotta have a little angel in Carmen. Jeff@KC has a great son, that is going to be whipping up on the competition in no time. Diva has a fantastic son in Brent. While he's grown, CajunSmoker did a great job with his son as well. Whatever these folks have done should be bottled and sold, and all of our lives would be better!

Thanks to everyone for a great weekend!

We didn't get any of the judges comment cards. I sure would have like to known what they didn't like about our pork entry. Man it must have sucked big time, since we finished dead last in that category and one judge gave us a 6,5,5

Meet my little angels and they might change your thinking....

It sure is wet and cold in Arkansas...

It was great to see old friends and meet some new ones! I started one post to mention everyone, but it just got too long!

I can't thank Andy, Kim, their girls, and Todd enough. It was cold, wet, and windy at times but I had a great time! I hope you can come down later this year to see us!

Jorge,

IIRC this is the 2nd time we've been in the same town and didn't manage to meet and shake hands. Didn't realize you were gonna be @ SOTW. Cliff H. and I stopped by Andy and Tod's where Cliff bought some of Tod's rub. Were you the tall, slim guy hangin' 'round there?

I would have been the guy that looked cold, wet, tired, and had had a great weekend! I intended to take a list with me to make sure I didn't miss anyone, but it ended up getting left behind. I'll do a better job next time, and will make sure I get by to say hello!

I was the ole phart with the grey beard, camo cap, and tan barn coat.

I had good intentions of making a good list but did a really poor job of it.

Great blanket Todd..

Alexa, my daughter, who is all of 5 yrs old is cuddled up in her bed tonight with the exact same blanket.

Any why is your groin area strategically located by Barbie's mouth ?

Maybe you and she can exchange Barbie clothes sometime..

A-hah! Now the comments by George and Andy make sense. I knew there was an inside joke going there. :-D Friday night, I would've taken any extra blanket I could get....Barbie, Pretty Pony, Strawberry Shortcake, Bugs Bunny, Smurfs....might have had to draw the line at the Teletubbies though. Those little dudes kinda freak me out.

Notice how well he's sleeping? No guilt at all, about the fact that the guy that delivered that cap nearly killed himself getting it there! None!

All I can say is .... he posted the pic himself, and asked for a barbie car from Sled. Todd, that Barbie pic was only on your camera.:-P
