New Holland PA in August. Great contest with a cool surrounding set in Lancaster with horse and buggies and all that good stuff. My favorite event of the year.

If Long Island moves towards independent statehood, would you come back to the Battle of the BBQ Brethren?

The DC Barbecue Battle. It's 2 contests - KCBS on Saturday and MBN on Sunday. You are set up on Pennsylvania Ave in Wash DC between 9th and 14th St. You can look up Penna. Ave and see the Capital and the monuments down the side streets. It's the only comp in DC. Not cheap, but a unique location. http://www.bbqdc.com/

They said they wanted to compete , not go broke on a ridiculously high entry fee for a first time event

Have read the other thread a couple of times and would like to compete in the area but gotta agree with you...

Come to MD. Salisbury is well run. Or VA Que & Crux is also well run.

FBA - Clermont FL, Thomaston GA, Dothan AL, Bartow FL are all ones coming up that are good. My favorite that has just passed is Winter Haven FL.

KCBS - Dillard GA, Plant City FL, Felda Fl are upcoming and good.

Unsanctioned - The Best of the Best and Smokin' On the Square Open in Douglas GA are hard to beat, period.

Sled, as a NEBS representative you seem to want to trash an event you have no experience with ...you are supposed to promote BBQ, perhaps you should reconsider your opinion...I met Cracker and Spice at Seyville.. I met Spice at AR...I think that they would really enjoy the event at Norwalk....I'll buy them some Oysters!

Que and Cruz, Louisa, VA, July. Awesome spots (each one has its own water/power hookups), great car show, and an even better cooks bonfire on Sat night after the contest (just don't let the firefighters near the fireworks!)

Yours in BBQ,

CliffWhy would I reconsider my opinion? I am not trashing it I am simply questioning the extremely high cost and have yet to hear a valid explanation. I am looking out for me and my fellow cooks in these tough economic times. It also might be an answer to the organizer when he does end with a low team count . I am all for promoting BBQ not making cooks dig deeper in their pockets than they have to

All of my stuff is already committed, but I suspect I could come up with everything that team SpiceyCracker would need.
