Crapshoot BBQ wins Grand at the San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo. That win gets them into HLSR next year, The Royal, and the draw for the Jack. Not a bad weekend!

Thanks fellas, We appreciate the props for sure! We had a blast! Great weather, great people...it was a special day for us. I'm looking forward to some out of state cooks this coming year.

4th Chicken
3rd Ribs
7th Brisket
1st overall

225 teams, I think.

Plus we hit final table in beans, open, and fruit pie.

We finished cleaning up and packing out this morning and stayed at a friends house drinking bourbon all day waiting for the Super Bowl to start.

Time for some sleep!!!

Good night.

I forgot to mention that we didn't cook as Crapshoot BBQ and we had a new team member this time out. His name is Ryan Carrol and he cooked our brisket on this outting as part of a fund raiseing organization named Cynco De Guyos. Great guys! We were Cynco De Guyos #1.

This event we cooked at was amazing. It all starts with Browning Construction organizing the event with 8 spaces. Six were used as the party area and two to park RVs, so all of the participants had a place to crash out. There were eight different teams cooking in are little patch of the rodeo that is called George's Jungle. Cinco De Guyo's was one of those teams.

The event had a party tent that could seat 150 plus house a band and a bar. There were eight BBQ pits, 3 ground fire pits for the party goers to keep warm around. We had a storage trailer, a walk in cooler 6 porta cans and even shrubs and small tree brought in. It was quite a set up. On Friday night we held a poker tournament that seated 100 players run by a pro pit boss. Saturday night we cooked for and served BBQ to over 1200 folks that bought a ticket to the event.

Ritch was kind enough to allow the use of the Renegade so our two teams could cook within the rules. Thanks Ritch!

It was a true team event. Because we had so many guys that wanted to cook we gave everyone a chance. Every turn-in candidate was tasted by someone other than the cooks in our group and the best meats were turned in to the judges. It worked perfectly. The result was a GC for our Cinco Team.

Chicken 4th (Crapshoot)
Ribs 3rd (Crapshoot)
Brisket (Ryan Carrol - rc21)

We also had several final table hits among our cookers.

This is a great organization and was a successful event. I haven't heard how much money was raised so I'll have to keep you posted on that.
