Do you have to enter all 3 contest? If you do not want to cook all 3 contest do you just enter the ones you want?

Will a team be able to find out what each payout is for each contest and the payout for each meat before the contest or not?

If they will, do you have any idea when? If not just say so, and I will scratch the contest from my list now. Will just cook with someone else like last year and avoid the headache!

Meats

1st Place..................... $875.00

3rd Place..................... $250.00
4th Place..................... $150.00
5th Place..................... $100.00

So you are only gonna have 8,500 to split between GC & RGC. Give 6th through 10th a medal and a handshake and give the winner's the big bucks!

Is this the price for Stagecoach period, or can you enter just one contest? Or is the answer, yes you can enter one contest the entry fee is $550?

You have to enter all 3 but you don't have to do People's choice at any of them.

AS far as the money goes, I think they are going to give some out on Saturday and the rest out on Sunday.

Why do some of you aggravate yourselves by constantly asking Thom these questions? You know the answers will come eventually. They will never come in one big lump. Just sit back and enjoy the ride. The first deadline is January 15th. If you don't have 8 people coming with you, there is no need to sweat. Relax and let the info flow...

If it is set up as a weekend event, so be it. Unfortunatly at this time not all team members can devote the entire weekend. Will try and hook up with a team like last year! Or maybe team up with someone!

Thom, newbie question here. If I sign up at the $550 does that entitle me to a space for the Q set up and a RV to stay the weekend in? Thinking as much fun as I have seen going on when I visit I might have to give it a go. Figure someone has to take last place.

Your RV and cooker space should fit in the 30 x 50 spots
With PC Money the weekend is at no cost to the last place team :)
Go for the Best Booth or Best Show and you may even win something
But I think your a better cook than that

Your right! I have always thought that BBQ flavor is/was regional. I dont know if any of these teams have ever competed in CA or faced CA judges?

I am looking forward to judging both KCBS events and seeing if I taste anything out of the ordinary or exemplary!

Will also be curious to see where these 3 teams or any teams from east of the Rockies place in a CA contest!

Why is this so surprising to you? I've had success in multiple states away from my home base of judges. Good BBQ is good BBQ.

So you will not be participating in the StageCoach IBCA event?

Where did I say I was suprised?

I ask if you or the others had competed in CA? I will be intrested to see where the 3 of you finish. If the 3 of you finish in the top 10, it will diminish my belief that BBQ taste is regional, if you don't finish as high it will intensify that belief!

I'm doing Stagecoach on my own... I am not sure if a solo cook can do 3 contests in 2 days. I am planning on giving the IBCA a go though.

But I don't agree that because if a team doesn't finish in the top 10, then that gives you more ammunition? I mean, a team can have a off day, right?

Hiopefully that brings it back on topic more for ya Jorge... :icon_smil

I think it is to much for a team (although I guess most teams do not have their 83 year old mother as a team member!), much less one person, just one of a few reasons we are judging. Some teams sure do like to cook multiple events over 2 days though, they really embrace it. I guess that much desire to compete has left me...Thanks but I already got a job! Its suppose to be fun...3 events in 2 days is not for me!

I agree with you regarding the off day, I just dont think all three of you will have an off day at once...Maybe that is foolish thinking.

Jorge, Did not think I was crossing the line in my posts, I think this is civil enough. Is never a bad idea to keep me off my soap box though.

Is there any information to the showmanship area of this contest? I looked on the website and didn't see any particulars on how it is judged or when. Is the theme Western? Just curious since we've never been there before. We are looking forward to it.

Bunny it is TBA
Thats code for I have yet to create it

The New Best Show Category was added
because some Guys work with the crowd is so
excellent we wanted to recognize them
Usually Peoples Choice BBQ goes to a team that
cooks a lot of meat Big Mista and Four Q are killer in this dept.
Best Booth has been won by the same folks
every year They have this set up with moving parts
It is something to see
Best Show is for teams that play and joke with the crowd
I would bet Four Q and AZ Barbeque will be strong contenders in this

I know you were hoping to be the biggist prize pool in CA for the Sunday contest. Did you end up getting more then $20,000 for the 4 meats + GC & RGC?

Thanks, Thom. Send me the info as soon as it's created. I appreciate it. Rich and I are really looking forward to a great time. It's been a while since we've IBCA'd it, but we remember quite a bit. Had to review the rules and our teammates are more prepared. But we are definately looking for warmer weather. We are up to 4 inches of snow here in KC. March is coming in like a lion and looking forward to the Lamb! Be there before we know it.

I am thinking in 2010 we will split the IBCA into two days
Go Four Meat with it......... giving us 6 turn ins each day
Three Championships Two Days $50,000 is the package I
will be selling

Yep we did it

I get $19,500, which includes $1250 this years winners entry for next year.

What is the $2000 awards? Is it for the 4 meats or the Grand or Reserve champion?

So am I right that between the 4 meats, Grand Champion and reserve, you will pay out AT the contest $18,250? Or did I miss something?

Looks like Viejas 2007 at $20000 for just the 4 meats, Grand and Reserve is still the top for pure payout in CA, but nice prize pool for your contestents!

Always the upbeat optimist Bent :)
Yea Viejas would be the one day one contest tops
We are the one day tops with two contests on Sunday
KCBS Four Meat and Western PC Championships
We have 4 contests to pay out here
The idea that one would take most of the money
did not seem logical

Aside from Bada Bing, Satriale's Pork Store and other Sopranos stuff in general will be showcased in our booth.

Unlike a KCBS judge, I'm sure you can be bribed though, correct? Seeing as how I am teamed up with Notley Que this year, I'm sure we'll skip the expense of the STRIPPER POLE and go for some wholesome, family-friendly entertainment.
