Howdy yall, Ive been lurking these forums for a few days and have been rather pleased with all Ive read on this excellent board. I stumbled across the board on a random googe query for plans to build a custom smoker for myself.

Im a native of the Lexington KY area and am a UK alum. Have only recently gotten into smoking regularly since I was relocated by my company to the KC area a year ago.

Im looking forward to learning from, what appears to be, a great wealth of knowledge amongst the many posters on this board.

My current equipment consists of:

2 Brinkman Bullet Style Smokers (1 charcoal/1 electric)
1 Weber One-Touch Charcoal Grill
1 Char-Broil Commercial Series Gas Grill (6 Burner w/Infra-Red)

Im hoping to expand this list as I move forward...

Thanks,

Will

I agree, you are not stuck in KC. I lived there for a few years, great city, great people, great food. Hope you have already gotten down to the Plaza to see the Christmas Lights...while you are down there stop by Fred P. Otts for a cold one and some good grub.

The Chiefs suck this year, but they put on a fantastic tailgate. Take in a KU basketball game, may not rank up there with Lexington, but it is an excellent College Basketball atmosphere nonetheless.

Boulevard Brewery puts out some excellent suds, Blayney's down in Westport is a big supporter of the K.C. Blues Society, and I always liked hitting the Grand Emporium late night for some great blues and jazz jam sessions.

Legendary Authur Bryants, for BBQ, really like Gates and heard good things about Oklahoma Joe's.

I always have to hit Stroud's when I am back for thier unblievable Pan Fried Chicken (Slogan: We Choke our own Chickens). Although the original location is gone, the quality and quantity is still there, sticky buns absolutley rock!

Sh**, guess I need to book a flight back to KC, I'm getting homesick!

Welcome to the board. Lots of information and experience available to tap, so join in - but be sure to wear the hip boots - it does get deep.

Sorry to hear you moved from Lex. Did several projects around New Circle quite a few years back. Tried to get the Mrs. to move up there, but she wouldn't have it. There is something about the town that I liked, even though the blue mist was everywhere!

Good to have you here Will.
You will be corrupted, and your list of toys will grow. I promise.
