I think Dustaway is going with the Ritters. KCpellethead is in. Podge is in, defending champion.

I've tried to quit thinking about it, since I decided that I couldn't clear that weekend on the schedule!

Seriously, Don. Are you coming this year? ... or are you planning over a year in advance for your visit in 2009? If you are....then man, I just gotta say THAT is very German of you!

(My wife is German, so I can totally relate...hell I haven't even figured out what I'll be doing tomorrow.)

Well, look at it this way :

Our team is from all over germany, we all have day jobs and family and lots of other things to take care of and we dont have any idea what to expect at the jack (besides getting drunk).
So we got a lot to plan. Flights, hotel, car rental, equipment, new passports, food, cookers and tons of other things. Thats why we rather take care of all that as early as possible.

I wonder if there ever was a team from outside the US/Canada that won anything at the Jack ?

Yes, the Mad Cow Barbecue team from the UK (Kent, England) were the Grand Champions in 2003? (I think).

Here is a video of them on You Tube which includes many of the past champions.

I've got a 1 in 8 or 1 in 108 chance depending on how many extra contests these NY folks keep cranking out.

1 in 4 for us, as far as I can tell anyway...anybody know when they will draw? I assume sometime around the 2nd week in Sept?

Gonna have to get that day marked as a vacation day so I can sit around and sip Jack and hit the refresh button over and over:shock::mrgreen:

If I'm breathing I'm at the Jack at the end of October in one capacity or another. I wonder if Guy Fieri will return this year, or if he's still feeling the hangover from 2008?

What happens to a state's draw if a team gets lucky number 7, or wins one of the big four, or gets drawn in another state? Does the reserve GC for that event get thrown in hat?

I will probably need to do the same thing. You should come down to Ames--I'll make popcorn.

1 in 4 chance assuming you don't win any other events before the end of August, and a believe there is a good chance you will!

Also see my question above. Depending on the answer, your chances might get even better!

No, there are no pass-downs to reserves.
If a team gets 7 or wins an "automatic" contest, they are removed from their state's draw. If during the course of the draw they are drawn for another state they are removed from subsequent draws, including their home state. If a state then ends up with no geographically-based team of their own, a further draw is held among all qualifying GCs of that state to determine the "geographic representative" for that state.
