View Full Version : Hello from Michigan

Hello everybody. I'm a new member to this forum but I have been watching it/learning from it for a few months now. Everything (not much) that I know about BBQ I have learned on this forum thanks to everybody who has posted and replied. After I post this I'm heading over to buy a 55 gallon drum to make my first smoker (UDS as per this forum). I don't know much about BBQ but I know I like to eat it :) Another hobby/obsession I have seems to go hand in hand with smoking and that is homebrewing. I look forward to "hanging out" with all of you and learning/discussing BBQ.

Wow. Hey thank you all for the warm welcome! I tried to access the homebrewing forum but for some reason access was denied. For now that is probably the only thread that I might be able to contribute some knowledge to.

So I just got my drum and it is in pretty good shape. It was used to store organic tomato paste. The lid on it fits pretty tight and has a C-clamp to seal it. Now I just need to take a trip to the scrap yard for some expanded steel and I'm in business! I can't wait to start with this thing. I'll have to take pictures of the construction process.
