It was kind of odd just showing up at a comp with no real reason to be there, but it was a great weekend, and Madison is only a couple of hours away. We stayed across the river in Carrollton, KY, and just drove between.

Tony Hunter (Indy Smokehouse BBQ) finally got into his first comp. We offered to judge since my wife and I are both CBJ's, but they apparently were full up, so we hung out with Tony and his wife and youngest daughter. We got to spend some time talking to old friends, and just relaxed for the weekend.

Tony did a great job. I tried Mike's ribs (Eagle River), and I have to say they were great. Also tried Rollin' Smoke's brisket which was very good, too... sweet with a bit of heat but not too much.

Who woulda thunk that Madison would be in the mid 80s and low humidity in August??? Great weather and company!

Photos are in no particular order...

Randy, congrats on the GC... I don't know how we missed you guys, but sorry we didn't stop by and say hello. Are you coming to Jim Dandy's comp next month?

I threw in the non-comp photos just because I felt like it reflected Madison this year... What amazing weather!

What do you think he is trying to say?

I'm not sure. I think his Madison "neighborhood" may have caused him some damage. That was a rough area.

No...my neighborhood was a very calm and sane place! At least is in my own world! Actually, I had one of the best neighbors around. Sid was next door, and even took home the "Traveling Driftwood Trophy"! This award is very rich in history, and perhaps I will start a thread in the future of what this prestigious award is all about. Congratulations, Sid!!

Thanks Buddy; The "Traveling Driftwood Trophy" what can I say. It was a proud day for Monty Pigthon and the good people of Fisherville, Ky. It was amazing the support we received when we rolled back into town on Sunday. It has already been a shot in the arm for the Fisherville economy. Our tourism business has gone through the roof.

Thank you for the memories. I used to run a mobile restaurant for Hardee's and the Madison Regatta was my favorite event. Is the Cliff House still a B&B. What an awesome place.
