I have just joined this forum, referred from Monte over on another forum. From the threads I've read looks like a great place to learn and pick-up on some good recipes. Started "q"ing about a year and half ago when I got sick and tired of dry tasteless turkey for Thanksgiving. Enjoyed the journey ever since an have learned how to cook the basics: pork butt, ribs, brisket, fatties, chicken, turkey and a few other things along the way. Also learned the great value of brining and marinating too. Chez over on the KCBS site has helped me with lots of recipes too.

I have a Goodone smoker & grill that I've been very pleased with. Also a gas grill plus a bunch of dutch ovens, another way to cook with charcoal.

Scottie also helped me get a good idea what its like to cook at a comp. He let me hang around at the Snowbird contest earlier this summer. Much different than cooking at home I must admit. I can now understand why it is so addicting: competition and good friends.

Also love jazz music. My son is currently majoring in jazz piano and the french horn, interesting mix. Other son is a mechanical engineer and my daughter is apprenticing as a pastry chef. My wife is a 2nd grade school teacher. I'm an accountant, please don't hold that against me.

Looking forward to the journey.

I have the Goodone rodeo also, been very please with it. One of the few charcoal wood burners I've seen that will burn all night and let you get a good nights rest.

Scottie,
Hey you remember that. I do also love classic cars. I own a '67 Mustang red convertable that I've been restoring. Currently has a 289 with a 5 speed

Ashnmont,
In answer to your 2+2 question, the answer is "What do you want it to be?" Always kept me out of trouble.....

She's already gone back to get the room ready. Kids will be showing up the 3rd week of August. She's also trying to help where ever with my youngest son's wedding coming up on Sept 5th.
