are cooks responsible to alert judges to possible allergens used in comp recipes (like nuts), or is it assumed judges can eat whatever is used?

If a judge is allergic to something then they shouldnt be judging.

I agree as well. If you have to live your life reading labels so as not to have problems then you have no business being a BBQ judge where you will eat at least 24 different recipes that you have no idea of what is in them.

I feel for people that have bad allergies, but this is no place for them.
